3 Cops Fatally Shot, 2 Critically Injured in York County, Pennsylvania While Serving Warrant

A horrifying scene unfolded Wednesday afternoon in York County, Pennsylvania, when a gunman opened fire on officers attempting to serve a warrant, killing three and critically injuring two more. The tragic shooting occurred around 2:10 p.m. at a residence on the 1800 block of Haar Road in North Codorus Township, approximately 35 miles south of Harrisburg.

Authorities say the officers were following up on an investigation that began the day prior. When they arrived to execute the warrant, the suspect opened fire. Law enforcement officials returned fire and fatally shot the gunman at the scene.

Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Col. Christopher Paris confirmed that two of the wounded officers were rushed to Wellspan York Hospital, where they remain in critical but stable condition. The identities of the slain officers have not yet been released.

“At this point, we believe the community is safe, but we’re leaving no stone unturned,” Col. Paris stated during a press briefing. “We’re going to run every lead down.”

The attack, which law enforcement sources say appears to be domestic in nature, triggered a rapid and overwhelming emergency response. Schools in the Spring Grove District were placed under lockdown as a precaution, and Wellspan York Hospital implemented enhanced security measures.

Gov. Josh Shapiro appeared alongside Col. Paris at the press conference, revealing that U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi had reached out to offer federal support. “This kind of violence isn’t OK,” Shapiro said. “We need to do better as a society.”

Bondi also posted on X: “Violence against law enforcement is a scourge on our society and never acceptable. Pray for the officers involved.”

The FBI and ATF are assisting with the ongoing investigation.

Fairview Township Police Department issued a somber message, calling it “another really bad day for York County law enforcement” and urging residents to “keep our brothers and sisters near Spring Grove in your thoughts and prayers.”

U.S. Senator John Fetterman also issued a statement, calling the shooting “absolutely tragic” and urging the public never to forget “how dangerous the job of law enforcement is.” He added, “My family grieves for the families of the officers who died in today’s shooting.”

Officials plan to release more information as the investigation continues.
