California Punishes Voters After Historic Election, Slaps on Massive New Gas Tax
California’s Air Resources Board (CARB voted Friday night to change fuel standards. Translation: they want to add 65 cents a gallon to the already highest fuel prices in the nation. This comes as Gov. Gavin Newsom preens on the national stage and vows to defy Trump despite the fact that the president-elect just scored a massive electoral win and what can only be called a mandate for his vision.
On Saturday morning, the average gallon of gas in California costs $4.14 compared to the $3.09 national average. In Contra Costa County, the average is $4.60 per gallon.

Tariffs and retail prices: What consumers need to know
Tariffs on retail goods don’t usually directly control the final price that consumers pay.
When products are brought into the U.S., the tariff is calculated based on the declared value of the goods at the point of import, not on the retail price at which they’re sold.
This declared value omits additional costs such as labor, marketing, logistics, rent and the profit margin that retailers add. Consequently, the price on the shelf can be significantly higher than the tariffed import value.
For instance, the markup on big-ticket items like cars might be relatively modest, around 5%, whereas luxury goods can see markups up to 500%. However, most consumer products are typically marked up by over 100% over their import value.
Sourcing is never fixed:
Consumers worry that retailers will just pass on the cost of tariffs in terms of wholesale costs. The more likely answer is that companies will look for cheaper suppliers, countries for sourcing or domestic manufacturers. Sourcing is not static or fixed.
The U.S. is the world’s largest consumer market. A significant drop in demand due to high tariffs can push suppliers to reduce prices to remain competitive, offsetting some or all of the costs of tariffs.

FEMA Official Removed After ‘Avoid Trump Houses’ Message Leaks, DeSantis Orders Investigation
An official with the Federal Emergency Management Agency was “removed from their role” and is under investigation after a leaked internal message in which they ordered workers to bypass the homes of Trump supporters as they surveyed the damage caused by Hurricane Milton in Florida.

In the leaked message, a FEMA supervisor told workers to “avoid homes advertising Trump” as they canvassed Lake Placid, Florida to find residents who may qualify for federal aid.
The supervisor, Marn’i Washington, told workers both verbally and in a group chat to avoid Trump supporters’ homes, multiple government officials told the Daily Wire.

A federal judge on Friday overturned Illinois’ ban on semiautomatic weapons, leaning on recent U.S. Supreme Court rulings that strictly interpret the Second Amendment right to keep and bear firearms.
U.S. District Judge Stephen P. McGlynn, of the Southern District of Illinois, issued a permanent injunction he said applies universally, not just to the lawsuit’s plaintiffs. He decided, however, that the injunction would not take effect for 30 days.
Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul responded speedily, filing a notice of appeal Friday evening.

Trump to announce Ukraine peace terms soon – Polish PM
US President-elect Donald Trump could present his vision of peace in Ukraine in the coming days, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has claimed. The head of government has predicted that the Republican would offer a timeframe for a potential truce as well as security guarantees for Kiev.
According to the broadcaster, Tusk claimed that “these will definitely be solutions that will involve less US interference in Ukrainian affairs.”

“Israeli” customers are reporting that it is not possible to pay by credit cards due to a malfunction since this morning (Sunday) – according to Yedioth Ahronoth.
The DDOS attack targeted the payment solutions company HYP, which is used by a large number of companies across “Israel”, including health services and public transportation.
HYP confirmed the cyberattack but said it has blocked the attack and now services are back to normal. However, customers said to YNET that they are still unable to pay using credit cards.
Two weeks ago, there was a similar attack of this nature, where credit card services malfunctioned across “Israel” for about three hours.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that he has spoken three times with President-elect Trump in recent days. Netanyahu is also sending Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer to Mar-a-Lago this week, a senior Israeli official told Axios.

Funny how the defenders of “democracy” behave when they do not like its results.
Democratic Sen. Bob Casey of Pennsylvania, who narrowly lost his re-election bid to Republican Senator-elect Dave McCormick, has refused to concede the race.
Moreover, according to one report, Casey has mounted a legal challenge.
The problem, of course, is that the Associated Press also knew about those outstanding votes.
“McCormick was leading by more than 30,000 votes when AP called the race at 4:09 p.m., and though there were an estimated 91,000 votes still outstanding, there were not enough in areas supporting Casey for him to make up the difference,” the outlet explained.
Furthermore, many of the outstanding votes came from deep-red Cambria County, where McCormick led by more than 40 points.

Date Set for Joe Biden, Donald Trump Meeting at the White House
Departing President Joe Biden and President-elect Donald Trump will meet at the White House on Wednesday morning to discuss the transition of power between their respective administrations.
UPI reports Biden extended an invitation to Trump for an 11 a.m. meeting inside the Oval Office, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre announced Saturday.
The meeting will include discussions of the transition of power from the Biden administration to Trump’s incoming administration.
