Tesla Trio Theft: Startling Heist in Northwest Miami-Dade

Early on Thursday morning, a trio of Tesla vehicles were allegedly absconded from a premises that offers tire services situated in Northwest Miami-Dade. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office received calls that led them to the Drivewhip automobile rental business on the 2500 block of Northwest 38th Court, a place just shy of the 2:00 a.m. mark. The premise’s surveillance cameras picked up a man gaining unlawful entry into a Tesla, before he decided to use the vehicle as a ramming device to break the gate.

In doing so, the man not only facilitated the escape of another law offender driving a burgundy colored Tesla, but also created an opportunity for himself to make a getaway. Once he had accomplished this, he abandoned the now damaged Tesla, and irrespective of the condition he left it in, he stole another vehicle parked on the premises and exited the scene.

Only on arrival could the deputies confirm their worst fears, one of the Tesla vehicles was still at the scene, but crippled with serious damage and another two missing. Kevin Gonzalez, a local worker who spends his days in the vicinity, reported to 7News, sharing his firsthand account of the unpleasant event.

His words painted a vivid picture of his routine being disrupted by the unusual and frightening noises of theft and escape. As he described his ordeal, ‘I was spending some quality time with my truck as I often do. Suddenly, a startling loud bang pierced the quiet night. As I burst outside to inspect the source of the noise, I noticed two or three cars pulling out rapidly from the scene.’

Kevin further went on to reveal details of the mayhem left behind, stating, ‘One vehicle was discarded, and the occupant decided flight was a better option, discarding it and choosing to run on foot. That was about as much as we observed. The audacity of the whole operation is staggering. I spend hours each day with these weathered hands of mine, toiling away even as late as three in the morning, and here are individuals making off with the fruits of another’s labor. It’s unimaginable.’

The shock wasn’t limited to Kevin Gonzalez alone. The greater community of residents also expressed their concern to 7News, especially as it wasn’t an isolated case. A strikingly similar event transpired at another car rental business just the week before. The question of whether the two audacious crimes are linked remains shrouded in mystery.

As daylight dawned, the tire shop morphed into a busy hive of activity with personnel meticulously probing the scene for any evidence that could help them in piecing together the events. Yet, the specifics that led up to the crime remain vague and far from clear. The general consensus, however, suggests that the criminals may have bypassed security by scaling the surrounding fence.

The law enforcement officers are treating this as a live case and have yet to lay it to rest. As of the other side of the latest Thursday morning, the whereabouts of the two Tesla vehicles remain unknown. Unhelpfully, any potential suspects are yet to be positively identified.

If you possess any knowledge that can shed light on this crime, the Sheriff’s Office is urging you to get in touch with Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers. Their contact number is 305-471-TIPS. It’s important to remember that, if need be, your identity can be kept concealed. Furthermore, your information could lead you to be considered for a reward of up to $5,000.
