Belal Muhammad to Face Della Maddalena in Upcoming UFC Montreal Event

Belal Muhammad savored triumph as he faced Leon Edwards from Jamaica in the UFC welterweight championship at the UFC 304 event. The event took place at Co-op Live, Manchester, England, on July 27th, 2024. The upcoming UFC 315, the next pay-per-view card on the schedule for 2025, is set for Saturday, May 10th. The UFC unveiled a comprehensive list of bouts planned for this hyped event.

UFC 315 will showcase two championship bouts and will be hosted at the Bell Centre, situated in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. This holds historical significance as it marks the UFC’s return to Montreal after over a decade. The previous event organized in Montreal by the UFC dates back to April 2015. The fight card brought to the fans a memorable flyweight championship bout between the then-champion Demetrious Johnson and Kyoji Horiguchi, headlining UFC 186.

On joining the UFC, Belal Muhammad presented an undefeated 9-0 record. Not long after his commanding victory clinching the Titan FC welterweight belt, the fighter emerged on the UFC’s radar. Mohamed inked a deal with the UFC in 2016, marking a significant moment in his professional journey. He was 27 at the time.

Muhammad’s fighting style is characterized by an effective use of footwork that leverages range well. His movements are calculated such that he maintains optimum distance without moving into the pocket himself. This approach has contributed to his superior record in preventing takedowns. Muhammad’s game mainly pivots on precision and timing, which minimizes the risk of him being exposed to takedowns.

A bout with Shavkat Rakhmonov was scheduled for Muhammad at UFC 310. Unfortunately, a bone infection thwarted Muhammad’s opportunity to compete on that card. With Rakhmonov also unavailable at UFC 314, the UFC decided to chart out a new direction by pairing Muhammad with Della Maddalena in the upcoming Montreal event.

Jack Della Maddalena, boasting a pro record of 17 wins and 2 losses, landed a contract with the UFC in 2021. This came right after his triumph over Ange Loosa on Dana White’s Contender Series card via decision. This was the first instance of Maddalena winning a bout through decision. In one of his latest bouts, Maddalena displayed sheer prowess by defeating former UFC welterweight title contender Gilbert Burns, knocking him out in the third round of their meeting at UFC 299.

Valentina Shevchenko, holding a professional record of 24-4-1, officially joined the UFC team in December 2015, when she stepped up as a last-minute switch in for Germaine de Randamie, squaring off against Sarah Kaufman on a UFC on FOX event. Following her bout with Nunes, Shevchenko moved to 125 pounds and embarked on a commendable run that left an indelible mark on the annals of UFC women’s divisions.

Setting the Octagon ablaze, Shevchenko delivered an astonishing performance against Priscila Cachoeira in her opening UFC bout in the 125-pound category. A significant milestone in her career was capturing the title at UFC 306 from the trilogy fight, thereby establishing her dominance in the ring once again.

Manon Fiorot enters the UFC event with an impressive 7-0 streak with the promotion and is noted as the second UFC main event. Flaunting a professional record of 12-1, the 35-year-old fighter currently ranks No. 2 in the UFC women’s 125-pound rankings. Fiorot’s transition from a UAE Warrior’s flyweight champ to a promising UFC star was formalized in 2021.

Maiden entry into the UFC for Fiorot reaped a winning outcome against Victoria Leonardo achieved by knockout. Following her promising debut, Fiorot’s career trajectory has been on an upward swing with a consistent climb in the rankings. Her most recent victory saw her outclass Blanchfield in a 5-round competition via decision, following which Fiorot hasn’t stepped back into the Octagon yet.
