Reckless Motorist Leaves Three Women Injured in Schuylerville Hit-and-Run

An unidentified motorist, who was involved in a dispute during the early morning hours in the Bronx, committed a hit-and-run act in which he drove onto a sidewalk striking three women that were strangers to him. This occurred over a weekend on East Tremont Avenue near Puritan Avenue in Schuylerville. Footage released by the NYPD shows the driver of a blue Mitsubishi Outlander driving with complete disregard to safety.

The reckless driver was reported to have had an altercation with a gathering around 4:30 a.m. Sunday. A few moments later, he steered his car onto the sidewalk where he unsuspectingly hit three women – aged 27, 31, and 40. He then took off from the scene, leaving the injured women behind.

The impacted area is East Tremont Avenue near Puritan Avenue in Schuylerville – a typically busy region. It was here that his blue Mitsubishi Outlander swerved erratically, ending up on the sidewalk where the three helpless women were hit. The driver of the vehicle then fled, leaving the victims to their fate.

As of Monday, the shameful motorist remained at large, hiding from justice. All three victims were speedily transported to Jacobi Medical Center where they received immediate medical attention. The reports from the hospital stated that all of them were in stable condition after the horrifying incident.

Surveillance footage released by the NYPD the following Monday provides a chilling picture of the act. As the driver hops back onto the street after the first sidewalk encounter, he is seen swerving onto the opposite sidewalk. This happens just moments after a pedestrian leaps out of the way of the rogue vehicle.

The circumstances that led to the disagreement which sparked the brutal act are still murky. It’s unclear if the fight which led the driver to such an awful decision involved the three victims, or if they were just unfortunate bystanders who happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.

The three victims, identified only by their ages, 27, 31, and 40, have been admitted to the hospital and are reporting to be in stable condition. Their lives have been irrevocably changed thanks to the hit-and-run driver’s moment of rage, which forever altered a peaceful pre-dawn Sunday in Schuylerville.

In an additional effort to catch the rogue driver, the NYPD released an image of the individual believed to be behind the wheel during the hit-and-run. He is described as a man of considerable size, last spotted wearing a black shirt, black trousers, white athletic shoes, and a red baseball cap.

As the investigation continues, unanswered questions remain about what spurred the conflict leading to such a drastic and reckless act of violence. Both law enforcement and the community remain hopeful that the driver will be quickly apprehended and brought to justice, giving the victims and their families the closure they need.

This incident serves as a potent reminder of the dangers that can come from escalating conflicts. It exhibits the dreadful consequences a driver can inflict when using their vehicle as a weapon instead of adhering to the principles of safe driving. Our cities and neighborhoods should be safe places for all residents.

Even as this hit-and-run incident has unsettled the community, it has also shown the resilience of the victims and the dedication of the NYPD in ensuring justice is served. As the victims recover, the hunt for the driver responsible is in full swing, with the NYPD leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit.

The victims of the hit-and-run — three women of diverse ages — are a reflection of the people who walk our streets every day: mothers, sisters, daughters, each with their own stories. They deserve justice, and it’s every citizen’s responsibility to support that endeavor by reporting any helpful information to the police.

While many details are still emerging about the hit-and-run incident, one thing remains clear – the vital importance of community vigilance. As law enforcement works tirelessly to apprehend the responsible driver, we must remember that everyone plays a role in keeping our neighborhoods safe.
