Former Vanderpump Rules star, Scheana Shay, leaves no stone unturned in her latest memoir, presenting a startling catalog of past romantic interludes with many of the heartthrob celebrities from the 2000s. In ‘My Good Side’, her recently released memoir, Scheana opens up about a self-declared hiatus from dating celebrities after a series of high-profile liaisons that made the headlines far too often. Scheana recalls declaring to herself, ‘It’s time for a change. You’ve had your fair share of dating or at least spending time and getting intimate with celebrities like Jesse Metcalfe, Eddie Cibrian, John Mayer, Shemar Moore, Josh Hopkins, Jake West, Jesse McCartney, JC Chasez, Adrian Grenier, Ricardo Chavira, William Tell, along with a couple of actors from The Notebook, and several NBA, NFL, and MLB athletes. Perhaps, it’s time to let go of this lifestyle and consider being with someone lesser known, devoid of the fanfare and the drama that comes with fame.’
Seemingly, Scheana craved a more grounded relationship experience after her star-studded romantic journey, which she admits now surprises her as well. Fast forward to her 40s, well-settled and a mom, Scheana is dubious if she would have been able to attract the same men. Reflecting back on her heady relationships in her 20s, she muses, ‘It strikes me as unbelievable now.’
For Scheana, a lot of these stories were a string of coincidences centered around her being in the right place at the right time. As she puts it, ‘Indeed, it was a completely different era.’ She continues to share, ‘With the advent of social media, dynamics around celebrity life, privacy, and social interaction have altered significantly. Back in the day, you could find yourself at a club sitting next to Leonardo DiCaprio, and in walks Cuba Gooding Jr., followed by Justin Timberlake. Amid this glitz and glamour, I would just be the girl at the table, basking in the fascination of the life around me.’
Her encounters with John Mayer, best remembered as a gentleman, date back to her stint at a cigar club. Shay casually throws in a tidbit about Mayer’s taste for phone romance. However, their relationship evolved towards a more formal and awkward realm. Scheana recalled, ‘I remember giving him an uncomfortably formal hug. The most recent interaction was concluded merely with a handshake.’
Shay sheds light on her past liaisons with Jesse Metcalfe, the star of Desperate Housewives. Interestingly, before their paths crossed, she was already nursing a crush on him during her college days. Shay confessed, ‘He was my dream guy during my college years, and truth be told, he still is.’ Their relationship progressed at a rapid pace, but as Shay recounts, ‘He was nothing short of an absolute charmer.’
Shemar Moore, who is currently starring in S.W.A.T., was another central figure in Scheana’s love life. Her admiration for him dates back to his time on Young and The Restless. Remembering her initial reaction, she said, ‘I remember thinking, Wow, Malcolm.’ Fast forward many years, and their paths intersect at a Super Bowl party. Scheana reminisced, ‘Our eyes met across the room, the spark was undeniable.’ They later had a rendezvous at Moore’s residence.
Today, Scheana enjoys a quieter life with her husband, Brock Davies, and their daughter, Summer Moon. Her memoir seems to underscore her journey towards maturation and personal growth, from a wide-eyed girl in the world of glitterati to a content woman enjoying the serenity of family life.
