President Donald Trump unleashed a powerful economic and diplomatic response against Brazil on Wednesday, signing an executive order that hits the country with a massive 50% total tariff on its imports and sanctions against a high-ranking Brazilian Supreme Court justice accused of authoritarian abuse.
The decision comes amid growing concern within the Trump administration over Brazil’s treatment of political dissidents and its aggressive efforts to force U.S.-based companies to censor speech on behalf of its leftist regime.
