Trump’s Takedown: Stern’s Ratings Nose-Dive Linked to Clinton Support

Former President Donald Trump had a bone to pick with his erstwhile buddy Howard Stern in the midst of swirling speculation over the radio personality’s impending contract renewals. The rumors have been fuelled by a U.S. Sun report earlier in the week that hinted at the prospect of Stern not returning to his radio show on SiriusXM.

Chatter regarding the shock jock’s impending departure was fueled by an unidentified source on Wednesday, who alleged that the media company would sever its ties with Stern once his current contract term ends this year. Stern nor SiriusXM have yet to utter an official statement regarding these rumors.

When questioned about his views on the circulating report during a Wednesday afternoon press conference, Trump didn’t miss the chance to take a jab at Stern. ‘Do you know when he suffered a setback?’ Trump shot back, clearly alluding to Stern’s political affiliations as the source of his supposed decline.

Adding salt to the wound, Trump explained, ‘His fall began when he threw his support behind Hillary Clinton. He consequently lost his followers. The public thought, ‘This is nonsense.’ Stern’s endorsement of Clinton marked the start of his downfall.’

Stern and Trump were once chief companions, with the former inviting the latter to appear on his radio show on numerous occasions, asserting he was one of his ‘greatest guests of all time.’ Stern even asserted his influence played a role in Trump’s presidential victory.

In spite of this, Stern clarified, ‘I didn’t cast my vote for Donald Trump.’ He expressed his desires to see Hillary Clinton become the president. He went on to describe the part he played in helping Donald, saying, ‘I provided him with a platform to showcase his personality, regardless of whether you were a fan or not, people saw him as a human.

Stern’s alliance with Trump took a downward spiral after he turned down Trump’s proposition to address the Republican National Convention in favor of championing Hillary Clinton’s candidacy. Stern said, ‘It’s a strange relationship I share with Donald.’

While recounting their past association, Stern reminisced, ‘Donald attended my wedding, I had very kind sentiments for Donald, he was always affable towards me. We have dined together at Mar-a-Lago on numerous occasions.’ Yet even with these pleasant memories, their relationship hit a rocky patch over their differing political opinions.

The former president’s criticism of Stern is nothing new; Trump lambasted Stern in October of the previous year. He claimed Stern’s audience ratings plummeted after he advocated for ‘woke’ values. Trump stated, ‘Ever since he embraced wokeness, his ratings have dropped drastically.’

In his usual fashion, Trump decided to take swipes at his typical late-night television foes on the same day. According to him, the likes of Colbert, Fallon, and Kimmel lacked talent.

In a disparaging statement, Trump said, ‘Colbert is talentless. I bet I could pick people at random from the beautiful streets and they’d outperform him or do just as good as him. They’d attract more viewers. He doesn’t have what it takes. Fallon and Kimmel are the same.’

Trump speculated on their potential departure, saying, ‘They’re going to be shown the door soon. I don’t know. But I presume this will happen since Colbert pulls higher viewership figures than Kimmel or Fallon.’ It’s clear that he constantly undermines their performances and perceives them as under-performers.
