Leftists, both in and out of Congress, have sustained a façade of empathy towards undocumented immigrants, despite their deep-seated opinions. Masking contempt with an aureole of advocacy, they paint these individuals as brave souls seeking to carve out a better existence for their kin. The realism underlying their compassion, however, belies a viewpoint that is either disparaging or, at best, exploitative.
Their double standards surface whenever they attempt to thwart the attempts of former President Donald Trump to extradite these immigrants back to their homelands. Instead of genuinely investing in the welfare of these individuals, Leftists demonstrate a singular preoccupation. This is no more prominent than with the Biden administration, which has unwittingly aided the unchecked migration of vast numbers into the homeland, solely for their own gains.
It’s not an exaggeration to say that Leftists have an instrumentalist view of undocumented immigrants. Their professed concern appears misguided, wrongly centered on how these individuals serve as a source of sustenance for them. Their well-fed appearances make it clear that the worry is far from being about skipping meals.
Scraps of conversation, gathered verbatim from a video compilation, offer a glaring testament to their myopic perspective. A case in point is Biden’s former first son who, with stark nepotism made an disturbing argument: ‘How do you think you got food on your table? Who do you think washes your dishes? Who do you think does your garden?’
This utilitarian notion pervades the discourse of numerous representatives as well. One passed off stringent ICE raids as heartless attacks on ‘the immigrant workers who feed America.’ Another ignorantly questioned the redistribution of immigrants, with the assertion: ‘Why are you shipping these immigrants up north? We need them here to pick the crops.’
Even the Secretary of Homeland Security inadvertently played into the stereotype. He announced obstinately, ‘Food is not reaching our table because those who pick the crops have been removed.’ The consensus reeked of condescension with many opining, ‘Our vegetables would rot in the ground if they weren’t being picked by many illegal immigrants.’
‘If you find your groceries expensive now, imagine the cost when farms are deserted,’ was yet another scaremongering perspective put forth. ‘When you see the food on your table, consider who’s responsible for it,’ was an invitation to view these immigrants as mere laborers.
In an equally distressing display, one spokesperson noted, ‘These immigrants, they’re the ones slaving away in the fields, something we’ve shied away from for a long while.’ The discourse also veered towards the impact on the food industry and supply chain, including products like blueberries and dairy.
A prominent talk-show host provocatively questioned: ‘If you throw every Latino out of this country, who’s going to be cleaning your toilets, Donald Trump?’ Others pointed out the supposed consequences of no immigration – ‘Without immigrants, our plates would be empty, our hospitals unclean.’
The discussion noticeably veered towards domestic chores. ‘My friends are messaging me all morning saying the gardener or the housekeeper didn’t show up. Now it appears they might have to lift a finger around the house.’ Just the thought of work appeared to be tiring for these privileged elites.
It was alarming to hear a representative claim, ‘We won’t have anyone to attend to us because our population simply isn’t large enough.’ This sentiment came under severe reproach for such a crude and degrading characterization.
In reality, what was said was just an unfiltered expression of the Left’s perception of undocumented immigrants. It’s almost as if the Left enjoy playing ‘savior’ while at the same time considering these hardworking individuals just pawns in their social and economic game.
The infamous ‘jobs that Americans won’t do’ notion is debunked when looked through the lens of economics. In the absence of these immigrants, if supply and demand dynamics were allowed to flourish, these so-called unattractive jobs could potentially generate ‘living wages.’
This embodies the irony of the Left’s poorly strategized solution for American labor force. What they promote in theory seems to starkly contrast the realities they manifest. They pay lip service to the idea of ‘living wages’ while simultaneously undermining the very mechanisms that could generate such wages.
Indubitably, this duplicity cursorily symbolizes the nature of the Left’s politics. Beneath a veneer of concern for immigrant welfare, they seem to devalue the dignity of labor and the individuals who perform these tasks. A lens of scepticism is essential when dealing with their seemingly empathetic rhetoric.
In conclusion, the Left’s stance on undocumented immigrants reveals less about their commitment to these individuals and more about their disjointed ideological framework. It bears a condescension far removed from an honest understanding of the complexity of immigration and labor dynamics. Ultimately, their actions serve to further their own interests at the cost of those they claim to support.
