Trump Says He’s Getting Border Wall Materials Back After Biden Sold Them Off: ‘We’ll Put It Up’

President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that his administration is reclaiming and reinstalling border wall materials that the Biden administration sold off “for pennies on the dollar.” Speaking at the Kennedy Center after unveiling this year’s Kennedy Center honorees, Trump said the recovered materials would soon be put back into place to finish his border wall project.

Trump recounted how, after taking office, he learned that the Biden administration had hauled away thousands of pounds of hardened steel and reinforced concrete — materials built to U.S. Border Patrol specifications — and sold them as surplus for just three or four cents on the dollar. “Biden sold it for pennies on the dollar,” Trump said, calling it “one of the most disgraceful, wasteful things I’ve ever seen in government.”

According to the president, the recovered wall sections include 9,000-pound concrete-and-rebar structures that are “very expensive” and “very hard to cut.” He credited former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi with spearheading litigation to retrieve the materials from the private company that bought them. “They stole the wall from us,” Trump said. “We had it, we paid for it, and now we’re getting it back.”

Trump tied the Biden administration’s decision to sell the wall to what he described as an open-borders agenda that allowed dangerous criminals into the country. He cited data showing thousands of murderers had crossed into the U.S. under Biden’s watch, some of them multiple killers. “The wall is the least of it,” Trump said. “But it’s a big part of stopping this invasion.”

The president pledged to reinstall the reclaimed materials quickly, noting that they were originally built with Border Patrol and ICE input, incorporating steel, concrete, rebar, and wiring for surveillance technology. “I built hundreds of miles of wall, and I was going to do another 200,” he said. “We were all set to finish when we got that horrible election result. But now, we’re getting it done.”

The contractor holding the wall sections, GovPlanet, has agreed to expedite their return under an arrangement with the administration’s Office of the Border Czar. The company said it would transfer the materials to support Trump’s border protection plans. Trump said the settlement would involve only a small payment to end litigation and reclaim the wall.

“I built it once, and I’ll finish it again,” the president declared. “We are going to put it back up, and this time it’s going to stay up.”
