Mark Hamill Mourns Trump’s Return, Fails to Recognize Biden-Harris Failings

Mark Hamill continues his anti-Trump rhetoric, now turning his attention to the new administration, seemingly promoting the sad notion that President Trump and his return to power might be a representation of what the nation aches for. ‘The fact that he managed to slip through the radar once might have been overlooked, but his reelection leaves the blame on us,’ expressed Hamill, with an air of regret over the 2024 showdown between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.

‘This is a moment of personal embarrassment and disappointment – under the presumption that the vast majority of Americans are honorable, fair individuals. However, these results show I was glaringly mistaken. I find myself being part of a minority in my own homeland.’ Hamill seems to be struggling with the idea that Trump’s reelection resonates with the current state of the US.

This isn’t just a recent sentiment, as he expressed similar concerns on November 6 last year, when Trump’s victory was beginning to solidify. The ‘Star Wars’ legend then had stated, ‘They say our leaders are a reflection of our collective desires, either this belief just got debunked, or the America we took pride in no longer exists.’

Hamill also reminisced about his ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ filming days during Trump’s initial presidential bid, contrasting against Hillary Clinton in 2016. He confessed his initial perception of Trump, as amusing, which later drastically changed around 2011. Back then Trump initiated public attacks on President Barack Obama’s birthplace.

‘Living in New York, performing theatre, I considered him quite entertaining. How could a pompous narcissist with no self-awareness not be comedic?’ remarked Hamill. ‘He was merely a joke in my eyes. However, what changed my view so rapidly was his baseless accusations about Obama’s birthplace in 2011.’

Hamill, apparently revealing his bias, attributed this shift by Trump as a calculated move to cater to a specific part of society. ‘It fascinated me that this was his first political stunt and he garnered plenty of response from it. I guess I’m reaching out to racists and conspiracy theorists now,’ he stated.

Recently in the news, Hamill openly shared about considering an exodus from the United States to the United Kingdom following Trump’s reelection. However, his spouse, Marilou York, convinced him doing so would only result in giving Trump the satisfaction of winning.

Recalling the incident, he stated, ‘She’s quite astute,’ he shared. ‘She didn’t react immediately, but a week later she expressed her surprise that I could let him force me out of my own homeland. The audacity of it, I realized. I won’t be leaving.’
