During an event in the heartland of America, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Scott Jennings’s fervent voice echoes across the crowd. Being the host of the Salem Radio Network and a noted CNN commentator, he laid into the Democrats, specifically following the tragic apprehension of the alleged murderer of the founder of Turning Point USA (TPUSA), Charlie Kirk. Tyler Robinson is suspected of calling Charlie Kirk’s life short during a stage of TPUSA’s ‘Prove Me Wrong’ event that took place at UVU on a Wednesday. On this occasion, Kirk was engaging attendees in lively debate.
On the subsequent Friday edition of ‘The Scott Jennings Podcast’, wherein he passionately broadcasted a clip of prominent liberal politicians and media figures labeling former President Donald Trump as a ‘fascist’, Jennings shifted his criticism towards the Democrats. The crosshairs seamlessly moved onto Democratic Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Dan Goldman of New York, Jamie Raskin of Maryland, and Eric Swalwell of California.
With a scornful tone he questioned, ‘Kamala Harris, AOC, Dan Goldman, and various others… Wouldn’t one wonder what gave Tyler Robinson the absurd notion that Charlie Kirk and conservatives alarmingly deemed as fascists, aim to obliterate the nation?’ He convincingly pointed towards repeated narrative parroted by the politicians.
During the final stretch of the heavily contested 2024 presidential campaign, Kamala Harris amplified attacks on Trump, with one of her speeches majorly characterizing the former president as a menace to democracy. She even went as far as referring to him as ‘unstable’, an odd remark right after labeling him a ‘fascist’ during an Oct. 23 town hall, an evident demonstration of her flawed perception.
Jennings further criticized, ‘Over the course of the last ten years or so, the leftist factions of American society, the Democratic party, and unfortunately several sections of the media have committed themselves to labeling Republicans and conservative individuals as fascists and Nazis’. This crude labeling has seemingly become a normalized language of the left, alarmingly platformed and endorsed by the media.
The manifestation of this unsettling narrative started taking effect, ‘Talking points were disseminated, and a label was bestowed. Today, it is rather disappointingly an article of faith among the American left to believe that those who voted for Donald Trump or hold conservative views, are deemed fascists, intent on sabotaging the Constitution and the very essence of our nation,’ Jennings cautioned.
The incessant patter of derisive comments continued unabated. ‘Every conservative view is met with quick retort labeling it as hateful, divisive or even lethal,’ He lamented the treatment meted out to conservative views.
Former President Donald Trump, victim of this vilified narrative, grappled with two unsuccessful attempts on his life during the 2024 presidential campaign. Each incident, one at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania in July, and another in mid-September while he enjoyed a peaceful round of golf in Florida, serves as stark reminders of the climaxing divide.
In 2016 too, Trump’s path to presidency was marred with a potential threat when a 20-year old visitor from the United Kingdom made an audacious attempt to take a police officer’s gun with an intent to shoot Trump during a campaign event in Las Vegas. He emerged, fortunately, unscathed and went on to hold office effectively.
Jennings unflinchingly accredits this disdainful behavior to a lack of understanding on the part of the left. ‘Charlie Kirk faced harsh criticism and outright loathing from the left as they were incapable of debating him simply – they resort to name-calling, labeling him and conservative intellectuals as fascists, Nazis, and essentially pawns of malevolent intent, thereby contributing to escalating mortality rates,’ he voiced.
He pressed on, ‘They lack the fundamental skills to engage in a fruitful debate, they resort to these blanket classifications with zero consideration for the corresponding implications.’ The tragic event where Charlie Kirk paid the ultimate price serves as a sobering reminder of the tension.
