Trump Welcomed To Windsor Castle With Royal Carriage Procession For Unprecedented Visit

President Donald Trump received a historic welcome in the United Kingdom on Wednesday as he and First Lady Melania Trump were honored with a full royal ceremony at Windsor Castle — complete with a carriage procession, military honors, and a personal greeting by King Charles III and the royal family.

The Trumps arrived to the sound of the “Star-Spangled Banner” as British military servicemen and 120 horses escorted their carriage into the courtyard of Windsor Castle. A total of 1,300 servicemen participated in the grand ceremony, which also included a joint U.S.-U.K. military flyover to mark the occasion.

King Charles III, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Catherine, Princess of Wales, greeted the Trumps upon arrival. President Trump proceeded to inspect the Guard of Honor — a symbolic gesture of respect between nations. The visit marks Trump’s second formal state visit to the U.K., making him the first U.S. president ever to receive two such invitations.

The president and first lady are scheduled to attend a royal banquet with the royal family later Wednesday evening. Before the dinner, Trump and Melania will visit St. George’s Chapel, where they will lay a wreath at the tomb of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Trump’s itinerary continues Thursday with a diplomatic meeting at Chequers, the countryside residence of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The leaders are expected to sign bilateral agreements focused on technology and energy cooperation, followed by a joint press conference.

“My relationship is very good with the U.K., and Charles, as you know, who’s now king, is my friend,” Trump said Tuesday before departing the White House.

The visit comes amid heightened political tensions in the U.K., where more than 100,000 protesters recently flooded the streets of London to demand tougher immigration policies. The mass demonstration was led by right-wing activist Tommy Robinson, with chants of “We want our country back!” and a sea of Union Jack and St. George’s flags waving throughout the capital.

Trump, long critical of Europe’s open-border stance, has applauded recent efforts by the U.K. to clamp down on immigration. “On immigration, you better get your act together, or you’re not going to have Europe anymore,” he warned in a speech last month while visiting Scotland.

The president also reiterated his longstanding criticism of wind energy during that trip, stating that Europe’s reliance on windmills is both “ineffective” and “damaging to the natural beauty of the continent.”

Despite the warm reception at Windsor Castle, a small number of anti-Trump demonstrators gathered in London and Windsor to protest the visit. Some carried Palestinian flags and projected anti-Trump images — including a photo collage with Jeffrey Epstein — onto the walls of Windsor Castle. Authorities arrested four individuals involved in the protest.

British media figure Piers Morgan downplayed the protests, noting their smaller scale compared to Trump’s 2019 visit. “Barely any anti-Trump protests in Windsor or London… very different mood to his last state visit, and very revealing about changing attitudes to the President second time round,” Morgan commented on social media.

Trump’s U.K. visit underscores his continued global influence and the respect he commands from key allies abroad — a striking contrast to the divided reactions he often receives from left-leaning media and activist circles.
