Kamala Harris Admits She ‘Pulled the Pin on a Hand Grenade’ With ‘The View’ Answer About Biden

In a revealing excerpt from her upcoming book “107 Days”, former Vice President Kamala Harris acknowledged that a seemingly simple answer she gave on The View turned out to be a catastrophic misstep in her failed 2024 presidential campaign.

During the appearance, Harris was asked whether she would have done anything differently than President Joe Biden. Her response: “Nothing comes to mind. I’ve been a part of… most of the decisions that have had impact.”

That moment, Harris now admits, was the political equivalent of pulling the pin on a hand grenade.

“I had no idea I’d just pulled the pin on a hand grenade,” Harris wrote in the memoir, according to the Associated Press. “My staff were beside themselves.”

A Gift to the Trump Campaign

Harris’ comments were instantly seized upon by Republicans, with President Donald Trump’s campaign blasting it out as proof that she was “fully complicit in the Biden disaster” and unable to distance herself from a deeply unpopular administration.

Though Harris wrote that she didn’t want to criticize Biden publicly or hash out private disagreements, she admitted she failed to recognize just how deeply her identification with Biden’s presidency was damaging her campaign.

The former vice president’s attempt to carefully navigate loyalty and independence only served to box her in — alienating both progressives seeking change and moderates disillusioned with Biden’s leadership. (RELATED: Biden Aides Rip Kamala Harris Book: ‘She Was Simply Not Good at the Job’)

Crushing Defeat

Harris ultimately suffered a resounding defeat in the 2024 general election at the hands of President Trump, who won both the Electoral College and the popular vote in a decisive victory.

In the book, Harris recalled the devastating moment she learned of the loss:

“I could barely breathe,” she wrote. “My God, my God, what will happen to our country?”

No Gubernatorial Run in 2026

Following the loss, Harris announced she would not be seeking the governorship of California in 2026, despite speculation.

“In recent months, I have given serious thought to asking the people of California for the privilege to serve as their Governor,” she said in a statement issued in late July. “But after deep reflection, I’ve decided that I will not run for Governor in this election.”

Legacy in Limbo

Harris’ forthcoming book, slated for release Tuesday, offers a candid postmortem of her turbulent 2024 campaign and a political career now in flux. Once hailed as a rising star and history-maker, she now faces an uncertain political future — with many Democrats privately blaming her for failing to energize the base or chart a clear contrast from the Biden years.

Meanwhile, Republicans have wasted no time using her own words against her — just as her staff feared when she sat on The View and unknowingly handed Trump’s campaign one of its most potent soundbites.
