Geraldo Rivera is giving President Donald Trump high praise after the successful return of Israeli hostages, crediting Trump’s leadership as the driving force behind the ceasefire deal with Hamas.
During a recent interview on NewsNation, Rivera said Trump had earned global stature for brokering the breakthrough ceasefire, calling it a historic achievement few world leaders could match.
“He is Elvis now. He is the biggest movie star on Earth — the most charismatic,” Rivera said. “As he walks around, he walks around with the power of the American empire infusing him with confidence and power. And he is a leader! He seizes the moment and is really putting his long experience to work, to solving these problems.”

Rivera, who has long had a complicated relationship with Trump, acknowledged that he once disagreed with the former president. But in light of the ceasefire, he admitted Trump’s performance on the world stage is unmatched.

“There’s no one that could have done that,” he said. “I don’t think Ronald Reagan could have done that — maybe Roosevelt is the last president who could have summoned the world … to choreograph this historic breakthrough.”
Rivera emphasized that Trump’s ceasefire deal was not a negotiation with Hamas — it was a demand for surrender.
“Hamas was invited to surrender, not to negotiate,” he said earlier in the week. “A ‘told you so’ moment for the peace through strength crowd.”
As the hostage release unfolded, Rivera joined the growing list of voices calling for Trump to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
“In any other year, María Corina Machado would be a deserving recipient … but there is no doubt in anyone’s mind that the winner of the coveted prize in 2025 should have been President Donald J. Trump,” Rivera said. “He has been unarguably the world’s most consequential peacemaker and has achieved some extraordinary, life-saving results.”
Trump’s 20-point peace plan has already resulted in the return of dozens of hostages and a fragile but holding ceasefire across the region. As more hostages return safely, even longtime critics are being forced to admit: the results speak for themselves.
