Will Smith is facing serious legal accusations from violinist Brian King Joseph, who alleges he was sexually harassed and then wrongfully terminated after reporting a disturbing incident while on tour with the superstar.
In a lawsuit filed in California, Joseph, 32, names Smith and his company, Treyball Studios Management, claiming sexual harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination stemming from his role on Smith’s 2025 “Based on a True Story” tour.
Joseph says he began working with Smith in December 2024 and had recently joined the rapper-actor for his comeback album tour. According to the suit, Smith made inappropriate comments, including telling Joseph, “You and I have such a special connection, that I don’t share with anyone else.”
The most alarming claim centers on an alleged incident at a Las Vegas hotel around March 20. Joseph says he returned to his room at 11 p.m. to find it had been entered without his consent. Inside, he found what he describes as “disturbing” items, including a red backpack, HIV medication prescribed to someone else, wipes, a beer bottle, a lone earring, hospital discharge papers belonging to a stranger, and a handwritten note that read, “Brian, I’ll be back no later 5.30, just us <3, Stone F.”
The complaint states Joseph feared someone was planning to return and engage in unwanted sexual activity. He also noted there were no signs of forced entry, and only tour management reportedly had access to the room.
After reporting the incident to hotel security, Las Vegas police, and Smith’s management team, Joseph claims he was met with hostility and ultimately had his contract terminated. The suit alleges that he was “shamed” and retaliated against for coming forward.
As a result of the ordeal, Joseph says he suffered from PTSD and other mental health issues tied to the firing. He is now seeking damages for emotional distress and financial loss.
Smith’s attorney Allen B. Grodsky strongly denied the allegations, calling them “false, baseless and reckless” and vowing to challenge them in court.
Joseph gained national fame as a top-three finalist on “America’s Got Talent” in 2018. Meanwhile, Smith has been attempting to revive his music career with “Based on a True Story,” his first album in over 20 years.
