ICE Agent Shot Renee Good After Being Struck by Vehicle, DHS Confirms Internal Injuries

The Department of Homeland Security confirmed Wednesday that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent who shot and killed activist Renee Good last week suffered internal bleeding as a result of being struck by her vehicle.

Two federal officials told CBS News that the bleeding was located in the agent’s torso. While the exact extent of the injuries remains unclear, DHS maintains that the shooting was a justified act of self-defense.

Good, 37, blocked an ICE operation in Minneapolis on January 7, reportedly using her vehicle to obstruct federal agents. After refusing repeated commands to exit the car, she backed up and then accelerated forward, striking agent Jonathan Ross. DHS says Ross fired three shots in defense of his life and the lives of other officers on scene.

“She hit him. He went to the hospital. A doctor did treat him. He has been released,” Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem stated. “This was a clear case of a federal officer defending himself from a deadly threat.”

DHS officials credited Ross with preventing further harm. According to agency sources, had Ross not acted, the situation could have escalated into greater tragedy.

But left-wing officials, particularly in Minneapolis, immediately sought to discredit DHS’s version of events. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey accused ICE of pushing a “garbage narrative” and profanely called for ICE to leave the city.

“Get the f*ck out of Minneapolis,” Frey said during a press conference. “We do not want you here. Your stated reason for being in this city is to create some kind of safety and you are doing exactly the opposite.”

Frey’s response drew sharp backlash from immigration officials and supporters of law enforcement who say he inflamed tensions and spread misinformation before key facts had been made public.

White House border czar Tom Homan said that due to the inflammatory rhetoric and threats, agent Ross has gone into hiding. Homan confirmed Ross and his family have been targeted by online harassment and doxxing, including threats of violence and public “wanted posters” with Ross’s photo and license plate.

“He’s in hiding now, and rightfully so,” Homan said on Will Cain Country. “He’s being painted as a murderer by left-wing politicians and agitators before the facts are even known. That’s why we have investigations. But you’d think people would at least wait until the facts are out before inciting mobs.”

Homan suggested that once the investigation is concluded, Ross may pursue legal action against those who defamed him publicly.

As of now, ICE and DHS say their internal review is ongoing, but reiterated that preliminary evidence—including bodycam footage and witness accounts—supports Ross’s use of force. Federal authorities are standing by their agent.

Meanwhile, Mayor Frey’s office has not responded to requests for comment following the revelation of Ross’s injuries.
