Federal authorities arrested a 21-year-old Ohio man after investigators say he made explicit threats to shoot Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and supporters of President Donald Trump.
The Justice Department announced Thursday that Justin Mesael Novoa was taken into custody on charges of threatening to assault or murder a federal law enforcement officer and transmitting threats across state lines.
According to a criminal complaint, Novoa allegedly posted violent messages on X targeting ICE agents and Trump supporters. In one post dated November 9, 2025, he allegedly wrote that he “can’t wait to shoot” ICE agents and Trump supporters using slurs. Earlier posts from June allegedly called for people to “blast every ICE agent they find,” claiming agents had “no badge or ID” and that there was a “legal right” to shoot them.
Homeland Security Investigations agents served a summons to X on December 16 seeking information tied to the anonymous account. Records returned by the platform linked the account to Novoa through an email address and phone number.
Agents executed a search warrant at Novoa’s residence on December 20. During the search, investigators recovered two rifles, two shotguns, a handgun, ammunition, helmets, a plate carrier, and a Palestinian flag, according to the Justice Department.
Investigators say Novoa admitted to authoring the posts when questioned by federal agents. According to the complaint, he told officers, “Alright, you got me. That was me,” and expressed surprise that the account had been traced back to him.
The complaint also alleges that Novoa’s online activity included repeated anti-white and antisemitic statements, as well as praise for extremist violence. Investigators cited posts calling for mass killings, expressing admiration for Hamas, and advocating violence against Jews and white Americans.
If convicted on all charges, Novoa faces a potential sentence of more than ten years in federal prison. He is currently being held by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
The case will be overseen by U.S. Magistrate Judge Kimberly Jolson and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy Prichard. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 5.
