Hunter Biden is facing new backlash after stating in a legal filing that it doesn’t matter if he’s “ghosted” his 7-year-old daughter, Navy Joan Roberts, because he never agreed to play a role in her life. The former first son made the claim in court this week as part of an ongoing dispute over child support and parental responsibilities with Navy’s mother, former stripper Lunden Roberts.
Biden, 55, argued that the Arkansas child support case should remain closed, despite Roberts pushing to reopen it over what she says are violations of their 2023 agreement. She accuses him of refusing to communicate with their daughter, withholding promised paintings, and shirking his financial obligations. Roberts has also asked the court to increase his monthly payments, which were reduced to $5,000 last year.
In a striking defense, Hunter’s lawyer Brent Langdon claimed that the child support agreement never mandated communication with the child, stating, “Any failure to communicate with the Child is not punishable by contempt.” He also argued that while Hunter agreed to assign thirty pieces of his artwork to Navy, no timeline was ever established, meaning he is still in compliance despite handing over nothing.
Roberts’ attorneys allege that Hunter’s refusal to engage with Navy has left the young girl feeling abandoned and confused as she sees the difference between her upbringing and that of her half-siblings. They say Biden’s silence and failure to provide promised paintings or proceeds from sales amounts to a breach of the agreement and warrants a contempt finding.
The court documents further reveal that Roberts gave up her request for Navy to carry the Biden name as part of the 2023 settlement. In return, Hunter was supposed to provide his daughter with artwork or funds from art sales, which once fetched six-figure sums while Joe Biden was in office. Hunter now claims those sales have dried up and his paintings are worth far less.
Roberts’ legal team painted a grim picture of Hunter’s indifference, accusing him of treating his daughter as an afterthought. In a recent filing, they wrote, “No one can force Mr. Biden into being a good dad… but this court can make it so that MC1 has, at least, the same level of support as MC1’s younger half-brother.”
Hunter’s attorney fired back, accusing Roberts of weaponizing the courts to publicly humiliate him. He dismissed any claims about the emotional impact on Navy as irrelevant to the question of whether he should be held in contempt.
Despite the claims and counterclaims, one fact remains unchallenged in the filings: Hunter Biden has not made an effort to build a relationship with his daughter and has provided neither communication nor art as previously agreed.
