Nintendo is turning up the energy on the court with Mario Tennis Fever, a new entry in the long-running sports spinoff series that is built specifically for the Nintendo Switch 2. The game leans hard into fast-paced, chaotic fun, blending classic tennis gameplay with over-the-top power mechanics, expanded character options, and a huge variety of match styles designed to keep players coming back for more.
The biggest new addition is the introduction of Fever Rackets, a brand-new gameplay system that completely changes how matches unfold. Multiplayer remains a major focus. Players can compete locally in the same room or online with up to four players. The new GameShare feature allows one owner of the game to invite friends to join matches, lowering the barrier for group play and making it easier to jump into matches without everyone needing a separate copy.
Beyond traditional matches, Mario Tennis Fever packs in a wide range of creative game modes. Players can chase Wonder Seeds in Wonder Court Matches, battle through brackets in Tournament Mode with commentary from a Talking Flower, or tackle skill challenges in Trial Towers. Other modes include Ring Shot challenges, Forest Court Matches involving Piranha Plants, pinball-style matches with bumpers, and Racket Factory Matches that introduce new power-ups mid-game. Swing Mode also returns, letting players physically swing their Joy-Con 2 controllers like real rackets.
Adventure Mode adds a story-driven twist. After encountering mysterious enemies, Mario and his friends are transformed into babies, forcing players to relearn core tennis skills while progressing through challenges and boss battles. The mode doubles as a tutorial system while still delivering a full progression experience for longtime fans.
With its massive roster, creative mechanics, and party-style chaos layered over traditional tennis gameplay, Mario Tennis Fever looks positioned to become one of the most accessible and replayable sports titles in Nintendo’s lineup.
