The Nebraska Senate race is heating up after a new campaign ad from Sen. Pete Ricketts thrust revelations from the Epstein files into the spotlight.
Ricketts released a digital ad targeting Independent candidate Dan Osborn over a canceled fundraiser that had been set to feature Democratic strategist Dana Chasin. Chasin’s name appeared in an email included in the Epstein files, with allegations that he helped move children on a plane for Jeffrey Epstein. Chasin has strongly denied any wrongdoing.
The ad claims Osborn continued fundraising efforts with Chasin even after the information became public, asserting that the event was only canceled once scrutiny intensified. Although the fundraiser was scrapped, an ActBlue donation page listing Chasin as part of the host committee reportedly remained active until Monday morning before being taken down.
Chasin, who is a member of the Rockefeller family, told Politico that he has never owned or rented any aircraft and said he stands with victims seeking justice and accountability. The Osborn campaign said on background that the allegations in the ad are categorically false and emphasized that the fundraiser was canceled as soon as they became aware of the claims tied to Chasin’s name.
The campaign also stated that Chasin did not donate to Osborn’s 2026 Senate bid. It added that a 3,300 dollar donation from Chasin in 2024 was matched with an equal contribution to an anti human trafficking charity as a counteraction.
Osborn’s team fired back at Ricketts, accusing him of hypocrisy and pointing to past Senate debates over the release of Epstein related documents. The Epstein Files Transparency Act passed the Senate with unanimous consent in November, though earlier efforts to force disclosure had sparked partisan disputes.
The Cook Political Report currently rates the Nebraska Senate contest as Solid Republican. Osborn previously challenged Sen. Deb Fischer in 2024, securing 46.5 percent of the vote to her 53 percent.
The clash underscores how the release of Epstein related documents continues to reverberate across global politics and domestic campaigns alike, with candidates now facing heightened scrutiny over any perceived connections to figures named in the files.
