Pentagon Identifies Four Army Reserve Soldiers Killed In Iranian Attack

The Department of War has identified four U.S. Army Reserve soldiers who were killed during an Iranian attack in Kuwait over the weekend while supporting Operation Epic Fury.

The fallen service members were Capt. Cody A. Khork, 35, Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, 42, Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, 39, and Sgt. Declan J. Coady, 20, according to the United States Department of Defense.

All four soldiers were assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command based in Des Moines, Iowa. They were deployed in support of the ongoing military operation targeting Iran’s missile and military infrastructure.

The incident occurred at Port Shuaiba in Kuwait during what officials described as an unmanned aircraft system attack. The Department of War said the investigation into the strike is ongoing. Two additional service members were also killed but have not yet been publicly identified.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth explained that the casualties occurred after an Iranian missile slipped through U.S. air defenses during a wave of incoming fire.

“You have air defenses and a lot coming in and you hit most of it,” Hegseth said. “Every once in a while, you might have one, unfortunately we call it a ‘squirter,’ that makes its way through.”

President Donald Trump expressed gratitude for the fallen troops while acknowledging the risks that remain as the operation continues.

Lt. Gen. Robert Harter, chief of Army Reserve and commanding general of U.S. Army Reserve Command, honored the soldiers’ sacrifice in a statement.

“We honor our fallen heroes, who served fearlessly and selflessly in defense of our nation. Their sacrifice, and the sacrifices of their families, will never be forgotten,” Harter said.

Capt. Khork, a resident of Lakeland, Florida, first joined the National Guard in 2009 before becoming a commissioned officer in the Army Reserve in 2014. His previous deployments included Saudi Arabia in 2018, Guantanamo Bay in 2021, and Poland in 2024.

Sgt. Amor, from White Bear Lake, Minnesota, enlisted in the National Guard in 2005 before transferring to the Army Reserve the following year. She previously deployed to Kuwait and Iraq in 2019.

Sgt. Tietjens, a resident of Bellevue, Nebraska, enlisted in the Army Reserve in 2006 as a wheeled vehicle mechanic and completed deployments to Kuwait in 2009 and 2019.

Sgt. Coady, who was posthumously promoted from specialist, joined the Army Reserve in 2023 as an information technology specialist. He was a resident of Des Moines, Iowa.

Maj. Gen. Todd Erskine, commanding general of the 79th Theater Sustainment Command, also paid tribute to the fallen soldiers.

“Our nation is kept safe by folks like these, brave men and women who put it all on the line every single day,” Erskine said. “They represent the heart of America. We will remember their names, their service, and their sacrifice.”
