President Donald Trump launched into critics of his Iran negotiations Monday morning, using a fiery Memorial Day message to blast “Dumocrats, RINOS, and Fools” questioning his handling of the escalating Middle East standoff.
“Happy Memorial Day to all, including the Dumocrats, who disrespect our Military and all of the tremendous success that it has had over the last year,” Trump posted on Truth Social early Monday morning. “God Bless those that have made the ultimate sacrifice. I love you all!”
The president also defended his ongoing negotiations with Iran while mocking critics who have attacked reports of a possible framework agreement involving Tehran’s nuclear program and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
“I laugh at all of the Dumocrats, RINOS, and Fools who know nothing about the potential deal I am making with Iran, things that haven’t even been negotiated yet,” Trump wrote.
The president insisted that any final agreement would be far tougher than the Obama-era nuclear agreement formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.
“The deal with Iran will either be a great and meaningful one, or there will be no deal,” Trump said. “It will be the exact opposite of the JCPOA disaster negotiated by the failed Obama Administration.”
Trump’s comments come as his administration pushes to finalize a potential framework that could reopen the Strait of Hormuz and temporarily ease tensions following months of military escalation tied to Iran’s nuclear program.
Reports over the weekend indicated American negotiators believe Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has approved the “broad template” of a possible peace framework, including agreeing “in principle” to dispose of Tehran’s highly enriched uranium stockpile.
Still, the potential deal has triggered backlash from both Republican hawks and Democrats for very different reasons.
Some Republicans aligned with the MAGA movement fear the administration could ultimately offer Iran too many concessions or leave loopholes that allow Tehran to eventually rebuild nuclear capabilities.
Meanwhile, Democrats have accused Trump of quietly pursuing a deal structurally similar to the Obama administration’s 2015 nuclear agreement — the same deal Trump withdrew from during his first term in office.
The president dismissed those criticisms Monday while also taking victory laps over recent Republican primary defeats suffered by GOP figures who opposed him politically.
Trump specifically mocked recently defeated Sen. Bill Cassidy and former Rep. Thomas Massie as examples of Republicans who crossed him politically and paid the price.
“Critics should go home and rest,” Trump wrote earlier in the morning. “They do nothing but create division and loss. In other words, they are losers!”
Administration officials have stressed that no sanctions relief or lifting of the U.S. blockade will occur unless Iran fully surrenders its enriched uranium stockpile under the administration’s “no dust, no dollars” policy.
Trump later clarified that while talks may be nearing a critical stage, he has instructed negotiators not to “rush” into an agreement unless American demands are fully met.
