Kuzma’s comments came after Mamdani admitted New York City lacks the legal authority to enforce the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant against Netanyahu, despite previously pledging to seek the Israeli leader’s arrest if he visited the city. Mamdani nevertheless urged the federal government to take action and again labeled Netanyahu a war criminal.
The NBA veteran’s criticism quickly gained traction online, with many users praising him for calling out what they viewed as political grandstanding. President Donald Trump has already stated that Netanyahu will not be arrested while visiting the United States, rejecting any effort to enforce the ICC warrant.
