Biden and Harris’s Hollow Pledge in Cancer Crusade

Joe Biden, the current president, alongside his wife Dr. Jill Biden, are scheduled to grace an event in New Orleans known as the Biden Center Moonshot. It seems they are expected to arrive in the city on a Tuesday, precisely Aug. 13. It appears that the chronic affliction of cancer is the focal point of this event, as mentioned on the official White House site.

Their ambitious mission, as spelled out, is to live in a world where cancer no longer carries the weight it currently does. They aspire for a future where a diagnosis of cancer doesn’t equate to a life sentence, where cancer is preempted before it can even bloom, where cancer detection is swift ensuring prolonged and healthier lives, and a unique proposition of not letting affected families traverse the cancer path solo.

This grandstanding was really brought to the fore in February 2022 when Biden along with his understudy, Kamala Harris, took center stage to vaunt about their strategies to combat cancer. They were joined at the event by the medical professional whose intervention was instrumental in putting up a fight against Biden’s son’s fatal brain cancer.

Let’s not forget that Beau Biden, a distinguished Army Officer of the United States, succumbed to this debilitating disease at the ripe age of 45. It seems that the Bidens’ ongoing crusade against cancer is in part fueled by their personal anguish and loss.

Indeed, when looking at the grand plans of their initiative, one can’t help but question the plausibility of their objectives. They aim to prevent more than four million cancer fatalities by 2047, a claim that impresses on paper but falls flat in the face of practical realities.

But the spectacle doesn’t end there. Allegedly, they intend to improve the abysmal experiences of those affected by cancer. And how pray, does Biden plan to achieve this superhuman feat? Apparently, that would be accomplished with an arsenal of 95 new procedures, regulations, and aids focusing on five essential actions.

That’s not all. The grandeur of the Biden’s plan doesn’t end at mere policy changes. Far from it. The audacity to call upon the public for contributions in a fight that should primarily be led by the administration tells you all you need to know about their approach to cancer.

The call to arms from Biden extends to everyone to undertake proactive and timely screening. According to Biden, catching the disease early would dramatically increase survival rates. This assertion, while not entirely untrue, is an overly simplistic take on a complex disease like cancer.

While the emphasis on early detection and prevention of cancer is important and can’t be glossed over, the onus of implementing comprehensive healthcare reforms shouldn’t be shifted to the public. The screening might help catch it early when there’s still a chance, but what is the administration doing to prevent the disease in the first place?

Biden and Harris’s rhetoric is all well and good, but the lack of solid comprehensive plans, clear actions, and defined healthcare policies is telling. Empty speeches and ambiguous plans won’t bring about the desired change. Their efforts to ride the wave of public sentiment while not delivering tangible healthcare reforms is merely political theater.

Such an approach seems typical for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris who, while appearing to be active in the fight against cancer, offer up vague plans with broad timelines. In reality, the fight against cancer requires substantial investments in healthcare infrastructure, research, and public healthcare policies and mere words won’t suffice.

Another twisted irony remains unaddressed – how is this administration reasonably addressing the financial burdens of cancer treatment? Numerous Americans are financially ruined by the exorbitant costs of cancer treatment each year. It’s the issue the Biden-Harris administration conveniently sidesteps while parading their grand plans.

In conclusion, while the intent behind the Biden Center Moonshot event might seem noble, the lack of substance to back up the lofty goals exposes the administration’s hollow commitment. Biden and Harris’s grand rhetoric around cancer prevention, early detection, and support are far from the comprehensive and definitive action that is desperately needed.

Policies and procedures should be tangible, realistic, and should draw from a complete understanding of the complexities related to cancer and its treatment. The Biden-Harris administration appears to fall short on all these counts, rendering their cancer initiative as no more than a publicity stunt.

While cancer is a cardinal issue plaguing society, it demands substantial and consistent action from our leaders, not just verbose expressions of sympathy and vague strategies. The pressing question remains – can we genuinely trust the grand promises made by Biden and Harris when their track record is anything but promising?

The grand spectacle of the Biden Center Moonshot event leaves more questions than answers. Irrespective of Biden and Harris’s public display of commitment towards eliminating cancer, their actions thus far fail to display the urgency and depth that the menace of cancer warrants.
