Biden Hits Another Health Low with Prostate Cancer Diagnosis

The health troubles of former President Joe Biden seem to never end. At the ripe age of 82, a prostate cancer diagnosis has been added to his list of ailments. Interestingly, this form of cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which typically allows for manageable treatment. Not to mention, the narrative says that the former president stumbled upon this diagnosis amidst rising urinary symptoms tied to a prostate nodule.

As is customary with Biden, he’s staying tight-lipped about his diagnosis, despite it being of public interest. In terms of his Gleason score, a grading method used in prostate cancer, Biden ranks on the high end – a 9. The disease is common but can be lethal, especially in a delicate constitution like Biden’s. The Gleason system ranges from Grade 1 to Grade 5, and Biden’s was assessed at Grade 5.

Dr. Kavita Patel, a medical contributor, has commented that Biden’s prostate cancer would be considered a very aggressive form. The dreaded word, ‘metastasis’, indicates cancer’s progression and its spread to different areas of the body. It seems Biden was unlucky and his disease has already spread to the bone.

Although he’d probably prefer to keep it secret, Biden’s potential treatment options have infiltrated the public domain. According to a source close to the former president and his family, there seems to be several options on the table. Hormone therapy (androgen deprivation therapy) might be a viable path since it halts testosterone production or hinders the hormone’s contact with prostate cancer cells. Testosterone, sadly, fuels most prostate cancer cells.

When he abruptly quit the 2024 presidential race, Biden and his team adamantly declared that his retreat had nothing to do with his advancing age or declining health. However, it seemed highly unlikely that new medical information didn’t play a role in his decision. Keep in mind, Biden himself had pondered that he might need to reconsider his candidacy if a severe medical condition arose.

As we rewind to 2023, Biden had to get rid of a lesion that turned out to be malignant. It’s ironic that even though this basal cell carcinoma was the most common type of skin cancer, Biden curiously required no additional treatment. The physician assured that the cancer cells had apparently vanished, but the question is, can we really trust that assertion?

Just when you thought Biden’s health report couldn’t get more extensive, he tested positive for COVID-19 twice. First in 2022 at the age of 79, then again in 2024, now 81. Older adults are at heightened risk of severe symptoms linked to COVID-19, and the former president was no exception. When Biden battled the virus a second time, he confined himself to his Delaware home, avoiding endangering others with his condition.

During his debut run for the 1988 presidential contest, Biden suffered inexplicable headaches for approximately a year. Like the canary in the coal mine, doctors initially thought it was a pinched nerve. However, one morning in 1988, he unexpectedly woke up on his hotel room floor, experiencing an electrifying surge in his head.

A visit to the hospital led to the discovery of a ruptured aneurysm. The rupture could have resulted in severe disability, even death, but Biden had a miraculous escape. The swollen blood vessel failed to rupture a second time even though Biden’s case was extremely high-risk.

At the medical center, a second aneurysm was spotted, one which was still intact. And just when we thought the drama might end there, a blood clot was found. In the course of surgical procedures, Biden’s second aneurysm ruptured, but interestingly, the blood didn’t flood his brain.

Instead, the blood leaked around Biden’s brain, preventing a potentially devastating scenario. He made an unlikely recovery and didn’t suffer any brain damage. Perhaps the only minor accomplishment to note in his vast history of health complications.
