The current Resident of the White House, Joseph Biden, has come under fire once more due to a message posted on his social media account emphasizing his administration’s commitment to the well-being of American veterans. This statement, delivered just before the respectful commemoration of Memorial Day, faced harsh resistance from several quarters of the public.
Voices across the digital sphere pointed out the grave consequences of his administration’s tumultuous and lethal withdrawal from Afghanistan. His critics demanded accountability, casting a spotlight on the fact that as veterans struggle with homelessness, the current administration seems to prioritize what some perceive as a surreptitious ‘invasion’ of unauthorized immigrants.
Pertinently, a number of these immigrants are being accommodated in hotels and other shelters across the nation, even as our nation’s warriors experience financial and housing difficulties. A poignant comment from one critic stood out, ‘Have our veterans slipped your mind, Mr. President? They represent the nation you serve, remember?’
Another critic starkly reminded everyone of the 13 brave service members who tragically lost their lives in Afghanistan amidst the chaos – a direct result of the actions taken by the president: ‘Biden, by leaving servicemen and women in the hands of a hostile force, has lost any credibility to speak on behalf of our military.’
Expressions of outrage flowed freely. One such remark read: ‘The sight of Biden glancing at his watch during the solemn transfer of the remains of American heroes was a moment that spoke volumes of his commitment. These were men and women who lost their lives due to his administration’s failures.’

Amid this overwhelming wave of criticism, one statement powerfully underscored the clashing priorities, ‘The VA’s delayed treatments will claim more lives this year than any combat situation in the 21st century. While we grapple with the realities of homeless veterans, unauthorized immigrants are receiving cash, food, and shelter.’
A thread of concern wound its way through the responses: ‘The last time we heard assurances like this, we saw the abandonment of hostages in Gaza. This promise sounds eerily familiar.’ Yet another poignant reminder of the consequences of the President’s actions.
Navigating this tidal wave of scathing criticism, we find the heartbreaking story of a gold star father, Mark Schmitz. Mark, still grieving the loss of his son, Marine Lance Corporal Jared Schmitz, who died during the chaotic Afghan withdrawal, openly condemned the President’s role in the tragedy on its one-year anniversary.
During his emotionally-charged interview on ‘The Story’ with Fox News Channel’s Martha MacCallum, he pointedly accused the president of ignoring the advice of his counselors, and in an act of defiance, proceeding with his plan. This was primarily to stick to his intended September 11 deadline, later advanced to the 31st.
Mr. Schmitz was particularly displeased with President Biden’s audacity of blaming his predecessor, Donald Trump, for the grave situation. This recrimination seemed hollow and unfounded to many who watched his interview.
The day that will forever be etched in our nation’s mourning – August 26, 2021 – was, tragically, the final day for eleven of our Marines, two U.S. Army soldiers, and a Navy Corpsman. These brave souls became casualties of a suicide bombing on the outskirts of the once-bustling Kabul international airport.
Our Nation’s Niger held its collective breath as the news waves filled with accounts of our troops trapped in a dauntingly hopeless situation. They were swarmed by desperate Afghans fleeing the imminent Taliban takeover, while they were also tasked with securing their own members – an almost confronting task.
Disconcertingly, President Biden labeled the operation as a ‘success’ which Mr. Schmitz, among others, outright rejected. ‘There was an incessant parade of mistakes, starting with the Bagram debacle,’ he said.
Schmitz expressed his disgust at the state of affairs, ‘It sickens me how the President could crow at this being a success, the only inkling of truth being in his acknowledgment of our valiant servicemen and women’s courage. They were given a near-impossible mission due to a terrible decision process, for which no one has taken responsibility – a duty that begins at the very top and goes all the way down.’
