Biden’s Presidency: The Most Liberal and Ineffective in US History

Joe Biden’s presidency cannot be described in any other way than a total failure. His downfall seems solidly rooted in his adherence to the O’Brien’s Iron Law of Politics, which asserts that leftists are notoriously poor at governance. This law has proven to be notably accurate in Biden’s case as he has shown himself to be the most liberal president the United States has seen in all of its history.

During his candidacy, Biden was urged by many fellow Democrats to step aside, their concerns quelled by the unwavering support of notable far-left advocates such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the rest of the Squad. Biden was cast as a moderate and pragmatic Democrat, a longitude away from his current left-of-center government that draws stark similarities to a would-be Bernie Sanders administration.

Biden’s first signal of an intent to govern from an extremely left-leaning perspective was his appointment of Kamala Harris as vice president. The far-left credentials of Harris were well-known in 2019 when she was established as the Senator most left-oriented according to GovTrack.us.

Biden assumed office in January 2021 while the U.S. economy was in the midst of a respectable recovery from the pandemic effects. The unemployment rate had been reduced drastically from a peak of 14.8% in April 2020 to a much lower 6.4% in January 2021. Meanwhile, inflation was at a commendable low rate of 1.4%, and the Real GDP was appreciating sharply at 5.2% in the first quarter of 2021. The economy was evidently not in need of additional stimulus.

Yet, contrary to logical approach, Biden orchestrated a colossal $1.9 trillion spending bill driven through Congress, that resulted in $1,400 checks for individuals and funded a jumble of other ventures. This superfluous outlay served only to light a flame under the worst inflation the country has seen in four decades. The entirety of this spending was fueled by an increase in the national debt.

Biden continued his spending spree, proposing the Build Back Better bill, which boasted a shocking bottom-line figure of $2.4 trillion—or a staggering $4.8 trillion if the proposed programs were not discontinued. The bill was loaded with audacious left-wing objectives such as universal preschool, national child care centers, compulsory paid family leave, hefty subsidies for green technologies, and an ambitious Medicare enlargement.

Fortunately, the audacious bill was forestalled by West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin, who dissented from the excessively left-leaning proposal. This resistance was enough to derail the bill in the evenly divided Senate. Nevertheless, Biden managed to reclaim some infrastructure funding and subsidies for green technologies from the wreckage of the failed Build Back Better bill.

Let’s consider some projects under Biden’s watch: specifically, the $7.5 billion allocated in 2021 for forming a national network of 500,000 electric vehicle charges. The actual outcome? A measly eight chargers have been erected. That’s right, not 8,000, but a mere eight. This fiasco seems rather successful when compared to the equally disappointing expansion of internet access.

A hefty sum of $42 billion had been set aside to improve internet connectivity, especially in rural regions. The ambitious project was assigned to Harris, but according to Brendan Carr, a Republican member of the FCC, the project has not managed to connect even a single person to the Internet after more than two and a half years. Not one home, not one business.

Biden’s presidency, characterized by catastrophic proposals and wasteful spending, stems from a flawed leftist belief: that America is principally problematic and thus needs to be fundamentally altered. A recent Gallup poll revealed that a paltry 34% of Democrats express strong pride in being American, a stark contrast to the 67% of Republicans.

This attitude reflects a destructive belief that America is riddled with societal ills like racism, transphobia, misogyny, and environmental destruction. Consequently, any spending project, regardless of its original purpose, is essentially transformed into a tool to tackle these perceived ills.

This scattergun approach is what New York Times columnist Ezra Klein refers to as “everything-bagel liberalism.” In attempting to fix all societal problems simultaneously, leftists wind up accomplishing nothing substantial. The sheer volume and complexity of issues being tackled result in ineffective policies and wasted resources.

Moreover, Biden’s presidency is marred by an audacious disregard for legal specifics. His unilateral decision to write off at least $400 billion in student loans, without Congressional approval, flagrantly violates Article I of the Constitution.

Biden’s presidency was potentially doomed from the start as soon as he decided to execute his role from an overly left-leaning perspective. The misguided endeavor to meet the exacting standards of the far left has led only to economic instability and ineffective governance.

All told, in the pursuit of radically transforming America, Biden’s actions have shown a glaring disregard for the practical needs of the American people, placing ideology above the welfare of the nation. His inability to fulfill his promises, while also alienating a huge proportion of the populace, cements his presidency as an unmitigated catastrophe.
