Breaking Ground: Hollywood Park Development Shaping the Face of Urban Construction

In Inglewood, California, an expansive and diverse 300-acre development plan, known as Hollywood Park, is set to change the face of urban mixed-use construction in the Western United States. Its centerpiece, Hollywood Park Studios (HPS), represents a new paradigm in movie studio and production facilities. Its advanced designs and capacity make it a state-of-the-art fixture unlike any other in the region.

A key role HPS will undertake, is serving as the International Broadcast Center (IBC) for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games (LA28). Hundreds of international media rights owners, entrusted with exclusive broadcasting rights, will find a haven at the IBC, allowing them to effectively distribute the worldwide coverage of these monumental athletic events.

The IBC’s premier design offerings prioritize the needs of these international broadcasters. The center will encompass ample space dedicated to offices, control rooms, studios, and various supporting services, promoting a seamless broadcast transition from Los Angeles to the rest of the world during the historical LA28 games.

Post the games in 2028, Hollywood Park Studios has an oriented plan to be part of the regular fabric of the media and entertainment industry. The advanced infrastructure will then continue to serve as a sought-after base for operations and studio productions.

HPS has a significant role within Hollywood Park’s master development plan, which hinges around Media, Entertainment, and Technology (MET). Other key MET facilities that anchor this holistic vision include the SoFi Stadium, the NFL Media office building, and the YouTube Theater.

Supplementing the MET facilities, the Hollywood Park campus will feature convenient access to retail stores, eateries, and lodging options, further reinforcing the mission of creating a cohesive city within a city. The intention behind this grand design is to amalgamate the dynamic sectors of media, entertainment, and technology to foster a transformative impact on the Greater Los Angeles area.

Post-LA28, HPS plans to extend a welcoming hand to a new wave of industries intended to enrich the spirit of Hollywood Park, which is built on a live-work-play model. The infusion of a slice of ‘Hollywood’ into Hollywood Park encapsulates a convergence of tradition and innovation.

The IBC forms a critical part of LA 2028, with many of its key events set to transpire at Hollywood Park. The nearby SoFi Stadium is slated to transform into the most expansive Olympic Swimming venue ever seen during the Olympic Games.

In addition, the Olympic Opening Ceremony will leverage the synergy of SoFi Stadium alongside the historically significant LA Memorial Coliseum. This shared venue approach will also manifest similarly for the Opening Ceremony of the Paralympic Games in 2028.

Even during the run-up to the games, the International Broadcast Center is primed to be one of the first facilities to reach operational readiness, committed to capturing and showcasing every stirring moment that the LA28 Games promise to offer.

The development of HPS hinges on multiple phases. The first phase encompasses an extensive 12-acre plot. It features five sound stages, each boasting a spacious 18,000 square foot area, with two stages combining to form a single voluminous 36,000 square foot stage.

Complementing the sound stages, HPS will also build a generous three-story office building, sprawling across 80,000 square feet. This establishment will play an integral role in supporting various stage, post-production, and production activities.

Provision for parking will be carefully planned, with a dedicated structure that can house 1,100 vehicles. The ground level of this structure serves a dual role by catering for high bay areas that can accommodate large trailers. These unique design considerations have been taken to specifically facilitate and promote movie production activities.

In addition to other amenities, Hollywood Park Studios will also feature mill facilities and will provide full equipment rentals for various production purposes. On par with modern needs, the first and subsequent phases of HPS will be connected to an all-encompassing campus fiber ring and power centers.

These connectivity provisions radiate a promise of delivering the peak level of service. They have been tailored to ensure efficient technology scaling which includes support for both contemporary and prospective AI applications. Construction for this transformative project is set to commence in the immediate future.
