The Biden-led administration has been speculated to hastily force prosecutions resulting from the Capitol unrest on January 6, 2021, following the 2024 election of President Donald Trump that marked the imminent conclusion of Biden’s time in office. Observations suggest that under Biden’s watch, judges consistently incarcerated individuals accused of relatively minor offenses such as trespassing for extended periods, sometimes even for several years.
These cases were brought forward as if they involved extremely grave offenses such as treason or insurrection. However, evidence suggests that these allegations were often unfounded. Furthermore, judicial sentencing within the extreme-left-leaning Washington area was excessively severe, with judges often overriding requests to transfer the cases to other jurisdictions to counteract a perceived proclivity of bias.
Furthermore, signs are pointing towards a coordinated effort by the Biden administration to expedite prosecutions and sentences after Trump’s electoral victory in November 2024. It seems that Biden’s political team anticipated that Trump would potentially grant pardons to those incarcerated for offenses linked to January 6th and acted to prevent this.
A government watchdog organization, Judicial Watch, has confirmed its initiation of a Freedom of Information lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Justice. The suit seeks records related to the claimed acceleration of prosecutions following Trump’s election in November. This move indicates an attempt to reveal any deceptive activities initiated by the Biden administration and provide transparency to the process.
As per Judicial Watch, ‘The Biden administration, anticipating the forthcoming pardons for January 6, 2021, defendants by President-elect Donald Trump, seems to have expedited prosecutions in the final phase of Biden’s term.’ This lawsuit aims to fill the transparency gap left by the Biden administration and potentially reveal some behind-the-scenes manipulation.
Their case originated in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia after the Justice Department’s failure to comply with a FOIA request from November 2024 concerning the records of then-Attorney General Merrick Garland, then-Deputy Attorney General Lisa O. Monaco, then-Principal Deputy Associate Attorney General Benjamin C. Mizer, and then-Special Counsel Jack Smith.
This FOIA request aimed to access information about potential pardons for individuals incarcerated due to offenses linked to the January 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol incident and instructions or orders related to the arrest of additional suspects based on the supposed crimes committed. The timeframe of this request ranged from January to November 2024.
On January 6, 2025, the Justice Department reportedly considered filing charges against up to 200 more individuals suspected of participation in the Capitol disturbance. Prior to this, approximately 1,583 individuals had already been under federal indictment.
On January 17, 2025, it was reported that the FBI and federal prosecutors continued to make arrests and pushed for stringent sentences for those who unlawfully entered the U.S. Capitol grounds. Interestingly, four significant arrests were made just prior to the inauguration of Trump, again raising concerns about the motivations behind these swift actions.
Judicial Watch confirmed this series of events, underlining the continued investigations and harsh sentences pursued for those associated with the Capitol breach.
Speaking on this matter, Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton stated: ‘The corrupt Biden Justice Department tried to undermine the Trump administration by wrongfully prosecuting American citizens affiliated with the January 6 events. Our lawsuit attempts to reveal the truth about this final-hour misuse of power.’
These allegations against the Biden administration, if proven true, would expose a misuse of power designed to manipulate the legal process for petty political goals. It amplifies the perception of bias in the Department of Justice, raising grave concerns about the fairness of the U.S. legal system under Biden’s watch.
This case underlines the necessity for transparency in government operations and judicial proceedings. Judicial Watch’s lawsuit, if successful, could give us vital insights into the hidden depths of the Biden administration’s actions during their last days in office and highlight the impacts of these actions on American citizens.
