Bill and Hillary Clinton could soon be held in contempt of Congress for failing to comply with subpoenas related to the House’s investigation into Jeffrey Epstein. The former president and former secretary of state were scheduled to testify before the House Oversight Committee next week but have yet to confirm their attendance.
Originally, the Clintons were set to testify in December. They requested a delay, citing a scheduling conflict, and the committee moved their depositions to January 13 for Bill and January 14 for Hillary. Now, they’re ghosting Congress again.
A spokesperson for Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) confirmed that the couple still hasn’t committed to the rescheduled dates.
“They are obligated under the law to appear and we expect them to do so,” the spokesperson said. “If the Clintons do not appear for their depositions, the House Oversight Committee will initiate contempt of Congress proceedings.”
If they’re found in contempt, Congress can instruct U.S. Capitol Police to arrest the Clintons and bring them before the committee. That’s not just a theoretical threat—it’s a real option under existing congressional enforcement powers.
Bill Clinton has long denied visiting Epstein’s island or having any knowledge of his criminal activities. But recently released Justice Department documents complicate that narrative. One photo, newly revealed last month, shows Clinton nearly naked in a hot tub with an unidentified woman at what appears to be one of Epstein’s properties.
Hillary Clinton has remained largely silent on the matter, but her name has come up repeatedly in Epstein-linked documents. Republicans on the committee say both Clintons’ ties to Epstein deserve far more scrutiny and that their refusal to cooperate is only raising more questions.
This all comes as the Trump administration has ramped up its efforts to expose high-level connections to Epstein’s trafficking network, with new subpoenas, document releases, and whistleblower testimony expected to roll out in early 2026.
