Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali of the DMP has issued instructions to law enforcement to enhance watchfulness over proscribed political entities’ activities. He stressed the necessity for intense scrutiny of any attempts or disruptions brought forth by such outlawed factions. In his address to a monthly crime analysis conference for April 2025, held at the Bangladesh Police hall in Rajarbagh, he emphasised the importance of delivering top-level professional assistance and security to citizens.
SM Sazzat Ali conveyed that our police service operates within an established framework of rules and laws, which amounts to a formidable level of discipline within the department. He highlighted the need for elevating their standards of day-to-day performance, including physical appearance, delivery of service, and firmness, made possible through strict adherence to professional work ethics.
Ali asserted that there is absolute zero leniency for any lackadaisical or unprofessional attitudes towards the performance of their duties. He articulated the sense of professionalism required in every task, reminding everyone of the significance of maintaining the highest standards at all times.
The DMP Commissioner also mentioned the importance of maintaining decorum while interacting with the public, emphasizing the requirement to treat every citizen with politeness and respect. He further advised that all interactions must promote a sense of security and respect among the citizens.
Stressing the strategic role of each police station, Ali stated that dedicated teams should be formed. These teams would primarily focus on conducting investigations, retrieving stolen property and combating drug-related criminal activities.
He also underscored the need for heightened surveillance in efforts directed towards mitigating crime rates. Every instance of crime must be tackled with increased vigilance and a consistent effort to raise the rate of resolving cases, the commissioner added.
He articulated the prevailing conditions, pointing out that every member of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police is endeavoring to perform their assigned responsibilities professionally, exhibiting unwavering morale amidst various challenges.
Finishing his speech at the monthly crime analysis convention, the Commissioner of DMP took the opportunity to recognize the endeavors of various DMP officers. These accolades were allocated across different categories in appreciation of their commendable efforts in securing lawfulness, controlling criminal activities and ensuring public safety within the Dhaka Metropolitan City.
