Donald Trump Jr. is holding Alyssa Farah Griffin to her word.
The former president’s eldest son took to social media Monday to remind The View co-host of a public promise she made: to wear a red MAGA hat on-air if President Donald Trump succeeded in freeing the long-held Israeli hostages from Hamas captivity.
Now that all 20 remaining hostages have been released — thanks to Trump’s direct negotiations with Hamas — Don Jr. is calling for Griffin to honor the deal.
3.5 Million Views and MAGA Memes
“Sending this to the top. Let’s go,” Trump Jr. posted on X alongside a video clip of Griffin making the pledge in December.

In the now-viral video, Griffin said, “If [Trump] does good, if he gets the Israeli hostages out, I promise I will wear a MAGA hat for one day on this show and say thank you for doing it.”
Co-host Sunny Hostin objected at the time, joking, “Please don’t do that.” Griffin responded, “She’ll knock it right off my head. You have to be able to cheer for wins when they happen.”
Trump Jr.’s post garnered over 3.5 million views and more than 172,000 likes within hours. Thousands of commenters joined in, many using AI tools to slap MAGA hats on Griffin and her liberal co-hosts, including Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, and Ana Navarro.
Griffin Applauds Trump’s Deal — But No Hat Yet
During Monday’s live episode of The View, Griffin did praise Trump for his role in the hostage rescue and ceasefire, crediting him, real estate developer Steve Witkoff, and former senior adviser Jared Kushner for pulling off a diplomatic breakthrough.
“If this peace deal holds, which I pray that it does, it’s historic,” she said. “Whether you like Trump or not, I think he, Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner do deserve credit for this deal.”
Griffin even acknowledged that sitting down with terrorists like Hamas may have been the only way to end the violence, a point she once resisted.
Still, there was no mention of her MAGA hat promise. Trump Jr. and his supporters aren’t letting that slide.
A Familiar Face on Both Sides
Griffin, who once served as the White House communications director under Trump, is now one of the few voices on The View who occasionally speaks from a conservative perspective. But she has been sharply critical of Trump since leaving his administration, accusing him of discrediting the 2020 election and stoking political division.
That’s what made her MAGA hat pledge such a viral flashpoint — and now a symbolic test of integrity. With Trump notching another foreign policy win, the ball is in Griffin’s court.
