Before being quickly removed from the stage, Trump made a brief, defiant gesture to the crowd, raising his fist in a show of resilience. The situation escalated rapidly as the Secret Service responded to the threat. In an official statement, the agency confirmed that the suspected gunman had been neutralized and was deceased. Tragically, the violent episode resulted in the death of at least one rally attendee, with additional casualties reported.

“US Secret Service personnel neutralized the shooter, who is now deceased. The Secret Service swiftly implemented protective measures, ensuring the former president’s safety. Unfortunately, one spectator was killed, and two others were critically injured,” disclosed Anthony Guglielmi, Chief of Communications for the US Secret Service, in a statement released Saturday night.

Following the harrowing incident, Trump expressed his gratitude to law enforcement and his sorrow for the victims. “I want to thank The United States Secret Service and all of Law Enforcement for their rapid response to the shooting that occurred in Butler, Pennsylvania,” Trump stated on Truth Social. “Most importantly, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family of the person killed at the rally and to the family of another individual who was badly injured. It is truly incredible that such an act could occur in our Country.”

President Joe Biden, speaking from his home in Delaware, strongly condemned the violence. “Look, there’s no place in America for this kind of violence. It’s sick. It’s one reason why we must unite this country. We cannot allow this to happen. It cannot be like this,” Biden declared. He went on to express his appreciation for the swift actions of the Secret Service and other law enforcement agencies. “I want to thank the Secret Service and all the agencies involved, including state agencies, for ensuring the safety of the people. We will provide more details as they become available regarding other injuries or affected individuals in the audience.”

Democratic Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro also reacted to the shocking event in his state. “Violence targeted at any political party or political leader is absolutely unacceptable. It has no place in Pennsylvania or the United States,” Shapiro emphasized in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
