Argentine President Javier Milei said that he will present a bill to Congress to punish with jail time any Central Bank official that issues money to the National Treasury to finance fiscal deficits.
“The bill will define seigniorage as a criminal offense and in case the Central Bank finances the treasury, either directly or indirectly, the president of the Central Bank, the board of directors, the president of the Nation and the officials who vote for it would end up in jail,” Milei said.
The objective, Milei said, is “not to be able to issue money to finance the Treasury,” pointing out the previous administration of former socialist President Alberto Fernández that, during his disastrous four-year presidency, printed the equivalent of 18 percent of Argentina’s GDP in pesos.
The bill is part of Milei’s “shock therapy” plan to restore Argentina’s economy after nearly two decades of socialist rule left the South American country with a record inflation rate and on the verge of entering a hyperinflation spiral.

CBS News reports NORAD fighter jets intercepted a “small balloon” over “Utah at an altitude of 43,000 to 45,000 feet” earlier today.
An official told the media outlet that the balloon’s payload was not considered a national security threat.

President Trump’s legal team filed several motions late Thursday to dismiss Jack Smith’s classified documents case, citing presidential immunity.
This is a glaring example of a two-tiered justice system.
Joe Biden was not charged after he stole SCIF-designated classified documents when he was a US Senator and Vice President.
Earlier this month Special Counsel Robert Hur found that Joe Biden “willfully retained” classified information, however, he decided not to charge him. Hur said there is evidence Biden retained classified notebooks, “knowing he was not allowed to do so.”
Biden stored black notebooks (photos below) that contained classified material in “unlocked and unauthorized containers in his home.”
Jack Smith indicted Trump on 37 federal counts in Miami in June for lawfully storing presidential records at his Mar-a-Lago estate which was protected by Secret Service agents.
Trump was charged with 31 counts of willful retention of national defense information and 6 other process crimes stemming from his conversations with his lawyer.
Trump’s legal team late Thursday night filed several motions arguing the federal charges should be dismissed for many different reasons including the statute Trump was charged with, the unconstitutionality of Jack Smith’s appointment, and other points related to the Presidential Records Act.

So wait, the people screaming about “democracy” and former President Donald Trump are now mulling over the question of not certifying Trump if he wins? And if they do it, they’ll likely do it, claiming they would be doing it “for democracy,“
According to the story, senior House Democrats wouldn’t commit now to certifying his win without a decision on Trump’s eligibility from the Supreme Court. So even if he wins, it sounds like they’re considering playing games.
So they think they could decide — all on their own — to disqualify him.
