Elon Musk Pledges Million-Dollar Prizes in Controversial Voter Scheme

Elon Musk, the wealthiest individual in the world, has recently modified some elements of his controversial scheme designed to incentivize conservative voters. Prior to the presidential election, he endeavored to attract voters with conservative tendencies by proposing a lottery system that could yield $1 million prizes to those who pledged their support by signing a petition.

As per federal regulations, offering financial rewards to U.S. citizens for voter registration or participation in voting is forbidden. Supporters of Musk refute these accusations, arguing that he was simply rewarding those who entered into the agreement by applying their signature to the petition.

As he strives to secure a seat for a right-leaning judicial candidate, Brad Schimel, on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, Musk continues to use this strategy. The tycoon has extended an opportunity for petition signatories to win $1 million if they stand against ‘activist judges’.

In an announcement to his audience of 219 million followers on X, Musk went even further. Upon his scheduled visit to Wisconsin, he promised to personally distribute two $1 million prizes as a token of gratitude for those who had made their voices heard in the election. The arrangement was specifically for those who had already participated in the voting process, according to Musk.

However, Musk withdrew his declaration on X without much ado later that Friday. Approximately half a day after the initial announcement, he felt the need to ‘amend an earlier post’. He then stated that ‘only those who have publicly defied activist judges by signing the petition are eligible to participate’, and went on to add that, ‘I plan on presenting two individuals with checks for $1 million each to act as advocates for the petition.’

Interestingly, it is the law of Wisconsin, not the federal law, that currently reigns. Consequently, the Democratic Attorney General of the state, Josh Kaul, initiated legal proceedings to halt Musk’s proposed payments on that same Friday.

In a strikingly ironic turn of events, the lawsuit was randomly allocated to judge Susan Crawford, a liberal-leaning figure whom Musk is attempting to unseat from the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Acting swiftly after this development, she requisitioned her recusal.
