Elon Musk’s Oldest, Vivian Wilson, Shines in Chris Habana’s Runway Debut

Vivian Wilson, the eldest progeny of Elon Musk, was recently spotlighted in the runway debut by popular designer Chris Habana. Habana, a New York-based talent, has a repertoire of providing tailor-made attire for several high-profile personalities such as Beyoncé, Madonna, Zendaya, and Lady Gaga to name a few. His strikingly original works were displayed at the Ideal Glass House show on September 15, which included 18 looks for the forthcoming spring-summer season. These designs bridged the gap between restriction and growth, echoing an aesthetic that blended elements of sci-futurism, punk, and global influences.

These eclectic influences that Habana played with were not limited to the realm of typical fashion elements. He drew from more unconventional elements as well, the likes of which included BDSM. For instance, he introduced the theme through pieces of clothing done in wet-molded leather in a gentle shade of green. As someone known for his avant-garde fashion, these choices fit well within his narrative, adding a unique edge to his style quotients.

Wilson, who’s made a foray into the modeling industry at the tender age of 21, spoke candidly about her experience. Previously seen strutting on catwalks for designers such as Prabal Gurung, Dauphinette, and Alex Bittar, Wilson shared how the highlight of her burgeoning career was the opportunity to meet and interact with new people. Even though she admitted it might sound clichéd, for her, it was a genuine joy to encounter fresh faces in the bustling cityscape.

While she is based in Los Angeles and professionally managed by Creative Artists Agency (CAA), Wilson remained reluctant to delve into commercial aspects, such as her earnings from her quartet of runway appearances. As a newcomer to the modeling industry, she confessed that her most unexpected experience at her initial New York Fashion Week was donning a dress constructed entirely from safety pins, an innovative creation by none other than Habana himself.

In the glamorous world of fashion, Wilson still holds on to her personal style hacks. She revealed her go-to favorites, which include blister pads and shoe stretching sprays for the sake of better fitting footwear. But she didn’t always aspire to be a model. Ironically, it was her mother who saw the potential in her and nudged her towards this path, leading to the young prodigy practicing her catwalk skills outdoors since her childhood days.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Wilson has always been reticent about the impacts of her celebrity parentage. While her father continues to enjoy his fame and success as the creator of Tesla and SpaceX, she consciously steered clear of the topic, choosing to focus on her burgeoning modeling career instead.

When off duty, the six-feet-tall model with the stunning light brown hair favored comfort over style, a trait that might cause a stir in the high-fashion realm but resonates with her personal style ethos. Instead of donning haute couture, she confessed to preferring the casual comfort of sweatpants, pulled together with a tank top and perhaps a sweater or jacket as an add-on.

The attractive features of Wilson are attributed to her mother, according to herself. The Musks, with Justine and Elon marrying in the year 2000 and parting ways eight years later, had a total of six children, one of whom tragically passed away at infancy. Elon Musk, in all, has as many as 14 children.

Wilson made the decision to change her name to Vivian a few years prior, a move that she says was made to align with her gender identity. Furthermore, she also dabbles as an influencer, a role she plays on the side. Although the prospects of establishing her own line of clothing is not on her immediate plans, she does not bluntly turn away the idea, leaving the future open with the playful tease, ‘Who knows what the future holds, darling?’

The night preceding Habana’s show, Wilson confessed to a cocktail of emotions. While she tried to keep her nerves in check, she admitted to a welling of anxious anticipation, magnified by vivid excitement. Her focus, she mentioned, was on giving her best on the runway, leaving her little room to engage in other thoughts or distractions.

Wilson demonstrated a deep appreciation for Habana’s spring-summer collection, especially for the gown she donned, which was composed entirely of safety pins. This, she expressed, was one of her most cherished experiences on this fashion journey. However, her stint in the city of New York wasn’t all rosy. Unable to cope with the city noise, she candidly shared her struggles with the unrelenting vibe.

The trademark noise level of New York City was a cause for considerable disruption. Her sleep was often interrupted by the city’s never-ceasing traffic, leading to a less than satisfactory experience of Big Apple living. In addition to that, she was also taken aback by the pace and driving habits of New Yorkers, which was a stark contrast to her Los Angeles roots.

On the other hand, Habana was thrilled to showcase his unique blend of design sensibilities. As he said, ‘We have been creating so many culture-defining looks for other trailblazers in the world, so the chance to express our studio’s distinct point of view is a dream.’ This encapsulates the sense of fulfillment he derived from the successful showcase of his collection.
