At the same time, the largest economy in Europe invested an astounding $343 million in Indonesia in the year 2024, as revealed by Sugiono.
Lookings towards the future, Sugiono suggested that the dialogue on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between Indonesia and Germany could likely reach a conclusion by the year 2026. ‘The implementation of CEPA will multiply collaboration opportunities, especially in the economic sphere, and aid in bolstering trade and investment between the two countries,’ said Sugiono.
Sugiono also disclosed that Germany had pledged a substantial commitment of 1.6 billion euros ($1.8 billion USD) to Indonesia’s clean energy revolution via the Just Energy Transition Partnership. This moves aims to diversify Indonesia’s energy portfolio and spearhead environmentally friendly alternatives.
Furthermore, Wadephul expressed his admiration for Indonesia’s diplomatic contributions, particularly in regard to its mediation role during the conflict that transpired in July between Thailand and Cambodia. He further acknowledged the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for its role in maintaining regional stability within Southeast Asia.
