Families of hostages who remain in captivity — along with those already reunited with their loved ones — are making a powerful and emotional appeal to the Norwegian Nobel Committee: give President Donald J. Trump the Nobel Peace Prize.
In a formal letter sent Monday, the Hostages and Missing Families Forum urged the committee to act with “a profound sense of momentous urgency,” declaring that “no leader or organization has contributed more to peace around the world than President Trump.”
“For the first time in months, we are hopeful that our nightmare will finally be over,” the families wrote. “We are confident that he will not rest until the last hostage is brought home, the war has ended, and peace and prosperity are restored to the people of the Middle East.”
The letter arrives just days before the Nobel Peace Prize is set to be awarded on Friday.
‘He Delivered What the World Said Was Impossible’
The families credit Trump with reshaping the global approach to hostage negotiations and conflict resolution, writing:
“From the moment of his inauguration, he brought us light through our darkest times.”
They say Trump’s leadership secured the return of 39 hostages, and gave others the ability to bury their loved ones with dignity. “A mercy we feared we might never receive,” they added.
Beyond Gaza, the Forum noted that Trump has helped free dozens of hostages — American and foreign — from regimes and terrorist groups around the globe.
A Global Track Record of Peace
The Forum made clear that Trump’s impact hasn’t been limited to the Middle East. “Since January, he has successfully mediated resolutions to numerous armed conflicts worldwide. Where others saw intractable violence, President Trump saw opportunity for peace.”
They praised his bold and results-driven approach:
“While many have spoken eloquently about peace, he has achieved it. Tangible results. Countless lives saved. That is what leadership looks like.”
The families pointed to Alfred Nobel’s original mission — to reward those who strengthen “fraternity between nations” and reduce standing armies — and said Trump fits that vision perfectly.
“He has not merely spoken of peace — he has delivered it.”
“Today, we write with hearts full of gratitude and a profound sense of momentous urgency, to urge you to award the Nobel Peace Prize to President Donald J. Trump.”

Global Momentum Builds Behind Trump Nomination
The families’ call for recognition adds to a growing global chorus.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed that he personally nominated President Trump. At least seven other governments have voiced support. And World Jewish Congress President Ronald S. Lauder has pledged to lobby the committee if the current peace process succeeds.
The Forum closed with a final plea:
“We strongly urge you to award President Trump the Nobel Peace Prize because he has vowed he will not rest and will not stop until every last hostage is back home. His unprecedented achievements in peacemaking deserve this recognition.”
“For our families, and for millions around the world affected by his efforts, this honor would affirm that determined leadership and bold action in service of peace are what truly matter in our world.”
