Hunter Biden, son of the former President Joe Biden, did not hold back when criticizing George Clooney in a podcast interview that aired this week. Apparently, Hunter blames the Hollywood celebrity for playing a key role in disrupting the re-election of his father with the ‘approval of the Obama contingent’. Profanity spewed from Hunter as he vented his anger towards Clooney and those aligned with him. Hunter was perhaps surprisingly in agreement with director Quentin Tarantino’s views that Clooney is not a genuine actor, but more of a brand image.
Hunter’s conversation with Andrew Callaghan during his YouTube show on Channel 5 primarily centered on the contentious New York Times guest piece written by Clooney. This piece was an influential factor in the growing calls for Biden to withdraw from the re-election race. Clooney allegedly penned this article, essentially demanding for a substitute candidate in place of Biden, just a couple of weeks after Biden’s unfortunate debate showing against President Donald Trump.
The disappointment resonating in Clooney’s essay was clear. He recalled an interaction with Joe Biden at a recent fundraiser, and commented that the once vibrant ‘big deal’ Biden of 2010 had notably faded. By Clooney’s account, even the determination and charisma seen last year reminded him very little of the original estimable Biden. This, he confirmed, bore resemblance to the Biden America witnessed in the recent debate debacle.
On July 21, 2024, a year to the day from when this incident transpired, Biden bowed out of the race, making way for Kamala Harris to replace him on the Democratic ticket. Angered by this outcome, Hunter chose to deliver a scathing rant against Clooney, questioning why he should earn any credibility in the political arena. He accused Clooney of spreading fabrications about his father’s memory lapses during a June 2024 fundraiser.
In the ironically titled book, ‘Original Sin’, an anecdote was included of a time when President Biden seemed to need assistance recalling Clooney’s name at a fundraiser. Hunter vehemently declared that the actor made up this incident to self-promote and justify his unwarranted meddling in the affair of the presidential campaign.
Hunter demanded to know why Clooney had appointed himself to this role of interfering in his father’s campaign. ‘What right do you have to trample on the legacy of a man whose life was devoted to serving his country for more than half a century? How dare you, George Clooney, use the New York Times as a platform to tear down the President?’ Hunter angrily challenged. His outburst seemed laced with resentment for Clooney’s unwelcome contribution to his father’s faltering campaign.
Adding to the complexity of this feud, Hunter Biden, who is also known for his painting career, discussed an interesting dynamic with Clooney, the Obama team, and the NYT essay. Clooney’s close association with former President Barack Obama seems to have played a significant part in the publication and subsequent influence of his essay. Interestingly, the Biden son was pardoned by his father for his weapon-related and tax evasion offenses, a move that contradicted his previous resolution not to do so.
Hunter’s vehement accusations didn’t stop there. ‘What was George Clooney’s strategy? Why did he have the audacity to get involved? Because he knew he had the backing of the Obama team, the Obama employees, and who knows, maybe even others,’ Hunter bitterly stated.
He also made pointed remarks about his father’s tenure as President, boldly proclaiming it to be the most laudable he has witnessed. Of course, anyone paying attention to Biden’s term would disagree. Hunter’s statement might go down as another one of those controversial ones that leaves people wondering about the reality disconnect.
