Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested an illegal alien from the Ivory Coast on Tuesday with a staggering history of crime, as part of a broader crackdown targeting the most dangerous individuals in the country illegally. According to the Department of Homeland Security, 39-year-old Marcelin Charles Gbey Gouley had been arrested 39 times and convicted of eight felonies prior to his latest encounter with federal authorities.
Gouley’s criminal history spans across Florida, Maryland, and Virginia. His convictions include cocaine trafficking, drug manufacturing and distribution, and multiple counts of possession of controlled substances. ICE confirmed the arrest while Senate Democrats were once again blocking efforts to reopen the government.
“ICE is on a mission to remove criminal illegal aliens from terrorizing American communities and fulfilling President Trump’s promise to make America safe again,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin in a statement to The Daily Wire.
Gouley’s arrest wasn’t an isolated case. DHS also released details on a series of high-profile apprehensions across the country:
Juan Pablo Martinez-Herrera, an illegal alien from Mexico, was arrested in Los Angeles after a conviction for lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 using force.
Jose Luis Tomalo-Viracucha, an Ecuadorian national, was convicted of attempted assault and aggravated sexual abuse in Monticello, New York.
Adrian Perez-Vallejo, another Mexican national, was taken into custody in Smith County, Texas, after being convicted of aggravated kidnapping.
Javier Sanchez, also from Mexico, was picked up in Los Angeles following convictions for carjacking and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.
“Yesterday, ICE arrested pedophiles, kidnappers, and drug traffickers from American neighborhoods,” McLaughlin said. “Our law enforcement officers will let nothing stop them from removing the worst of the worst, including the Democrats’ government shutdown or even an 8,000% increase in death threats against them.”
The arrests come amid growing tensions in Washington over border and immigration policy. Senate Democrats have blocked a stopgap measure to fund the government for the 14th time, as ICE continues operating without full federal funding.
The Trump administration reports that it’s on track to deport roughly 600,000 illegal immigrants by the end of the year, with DHS noting that an additional 1.6 million have voluntarily self-deported since President Trump returned to office.
Speaking to “60 Minutes” on Sunday, Trump said ICE’s efforts have been hindered by left-wing judges appointed by his predecessors.
“I think they haven’t gone far enough because we’ve been held back by the judges, by the liberal judges that were put in by Biden and by Obama,” Trump said. “You have to get the people out. You know, you have to look at the people. Many of them are murderers. Many of them are people that were thrown out of their countries because they were, you know, criminals.”
With deportations ramping up and high-profile arrests continuing, the administration is making it clear: the crackdown on criminal illegal aliens is far from over.
