Federal immigration authorities arrested a wave of violent illegal immigrants in Memphis as part of President Donald Trump’s sweeping national crime crackdown, The Daily Wire has learned.
The latest enforcement push led to the capture of gang members, child predators, drug traffickers, and repeat offenders, all of whom had been living in the country illegally and contributing to Memphis’s spiraling crime rate.
McLaughlin: “We Will Make America Safe Again”
“Memphis has suffered from historic levels of violent crime, including a murder rate that is four times higher than Mexico City,” said Assistant Homeland Security Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “No American should be afraid to walk down the streets in their own neighborhoods.”
She added that DHS agents are working “hand in glove” with Attorney General Pam Bondi and other law enforcement partners at every level of government. “The Trump administration WILL make America safe again,” she said.
Illegal Alien Offenders Captured in Memphis
Among those taken off the streets:
– Luis Alfredo Maldonado-Lopez, a Honduran illegal immigrant with a prior arrest for child molestation.
– Jose Eduardo Mena Perez, a known Sureño 13 gang member from Mexico, with a long rap sheet including burglary, illegal weapons possession, larceny, narcotics offenses, and aggravated assault with a weapon. He had previously been deported twice.
– Luis Alberto Cordova Bandala, also from Mexico, previously arrested for domestic violence and assaulting a police officer.
– Simeon Sosa-Camargo, a convicted Mexican human smuggler.
All were apprehended by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents as part of a targeted effort to restore public safety in cities suffering from violent crime.
Memphis Part of Nationwide Crackdown
Memphis joins other high-crime cities like Portland, San Francisco, and Chicago as focal points of Trump’s crime-fighting strategy. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed the administration’s intent to continue expanding these operations.
“We continue to have targeted operations in many, many cities,” Noem said Monday at a press conference in Sarasota, Florida. “But we’re also very focused on those where challenges are still remaining.”
She emphasized that President Trump had specifically ordered deployments to cities where sanctuary policies or lax local enforcement have allowed dangerous criminals to remain on the streets.
National Guard and Federal Reinforcements on Standby
The Trump administration has also deployed National Guard troops to assist federal agents in hot zones across the country. In Los Angeles, federal reinforcements were sent after anti-ICE riots spiraled out of control. Similar strategies are now being considered for Memphis and San Francisco.
As the crackdown expands, DHS promises that more arrests are on the horizon—and that President Trump’s law-and-order approach is delivering results.
“Every city deserves peace and security,” said McLaughlin. “And President Trump is making sure federal law enforcement is finally empowered to act.”
