The malefactor, Andrew Nickels, aged 38, publicly confessed his fault as he had pleaded guilty in February for deploying threats that crossed state lines. As the details of the case surfaced, it was revealed that Nickels, carrying a presumable distaste for the course of the events unfolding in the election, had provoked the office of Rochester Hills’ clerk with a barrage of crass voicemails. He falsely claimed that there was widescale election misconduct, demanded unwarranted auditing, and was relentless in his life-threatening intimidations targeting Barton.
