Numerous journalists, both historical and contemporary, have gained recognition for their pronounced bias against Israel. However, a notable instance involves Hassan Eslaiah, a photojournalist who identifies as Palestinian.
Recent revelations indicate that Eslaiah is a follower and admirer of Hamas, an extremist group.
Eslaiah was present with the perpetrators during their incursion into Israel on October 7, where they proceeded to engage in violent activities within the kibbutzim. The individual documented the horrors being committed by the operatives of the terror group, displaying a clear sense of satisfaction. He observed acts of extreme violence, including the killing of infants, the burning of children, the torture and sexual assault of young girls, the murder of parents in the presence of their children, and the killing of children in front of their parents.
He witnessed instances where Hamas members mutilated Jewish individuals, removing their eyes, breasts, and genitalia, both while they were alive and after their death. The individual witnessed the entirety of the situation and expressed their consent. This individual served as a photojournalist, providing photographs to two globally recognized news outlets that heavily relied on his contributions.
Naturally, he refrained from transmitting any visual documentation of the most egregious acts of violence he encountered. The individual’s threshold for witnessing atrocities extended to piles of victims, while Israeli tanks were subjected to arson. However, acts including beheaded infants, gouged-out eyes, or the torture and subsequent rape leading to the death of young females were beyond what he could bear.
Hassan Eslaiah, right.
For further information regarding Hassan Eslaiah, readers may refer to the article titled “Crossing the lines of integrity with a Hamas-praising photojournalist – analysis” authored by Maayan Jaffe-Hoffman, which was published in the Jerusalem Post.
CNN hired the photojournalist who just three days before posted videos and photos of himself inside Israel during the Hamas massacre, including with an Israeli tank and a room of bloody, dead bodies.
Gaza photojournalist Hassan Eslaiah crossed into Israel on October 7 to document the Hamas massacre of more than 1,200 Israelis. His photos from the scene appeared on several international news outlets, including The Associated Press, the Jerusalem-based watchdog HonestReporting has said.

However, CNN said in a statement last week that their working relationship with the freelancer began after the October 7 terrorist attacks on Israel, on October 10. It also noted that despite its decision to stop working with Eslaiah, it did not have “any reason to doubt the journalistic accuracy of the work he has done for us,” as reported by Ynet and confirmed by The Jerusalem Post.
However, Eslaiah expressed a willingness to provide AP and CNN with photographs depicting deceased Israelis, including troops who lost their lives in Gaza, on October 7. However, Eslaiah refrained from sharing any images that depicted acts of torture, mutilation, or beheadings of Israelis on the same date.
During the period following his return to Gaza on October 7th, he displayed a strong inclination to provide photographs depicting deceased Palestinian youngsters, with a preference for those exhibiting higher levels of blood and graphic imagery.
The loss of limbs exhibited enhanced characteristics. The individual captured photographs of deceased infants, who were wrapped in white fabric and held by mothers who were overcome with inconsolable grief.
In addition, the individual captured photographs of educational institutions, places of worship, and residential complexes subsequent to their destruction caused by Israeli military actions. However, no evidence was presented to suggest the presence of an extensive network of underground passages for illicit activities beneath these structures.
The photographer has also included images of despondent Palestinian adolescent guys, gazing upon the remnants of their residential areas, as a recurring theme in his body of work. Hassan Eslaiah aimed to elicit empathy towards the Palestinian population, use his camera as a means to achieve this objective.
The Post has verified that Eslaiah’s termination was not a result of his performance on the 7th, but rather due to a distinct yet interconnected issue.
The level of awareness possessed by CNN of Eslaiah’s posts on Telegram prior to extending him employment remains uncertain.
Had CNN and the AP conducted thorough research, they would have uncovered Eslaiah’s fervor for the “glorious morning” of October 7, when Hamas delivered a significant setback to the Zionist forces. It is to be desired that the individuals responsible for recruiting Eslaiah neglected to do a thorough investigation before to his employment. The possibility that these news organizations were aware of his support for Hamas, as well as his involvement in accompanying the group’s agents during their attacks on the kibbutzim, and shown indifference towards these facts, is a distressing notion that is difficult to consider.
The Jerusalem Post added:
However, by scrolling through Eslaiah’s personal Telegram channel, the Post has found that Eslaiah posted much more than a tank on the 7th, including items that indicate that not only did he likely know about the planned massacre before it began at around 6:30 a.m., but that he supported the deaths of the innocent Israelis he watched being murdered.
Eslaiah’s first post on October 7 was at 5:59 a.m.: “We wake up to the great gifts of God,” he posted, according to a translation by ChatGPT. “The spirit has returned, and our blessings have increased.”
Within half an hour, he is posting about the rockets being launched at Israel and the sounds of the Iron Dome intercepting them over Khan Yunis. Then, between 6:55 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., he posts multiple variations: “To follow the latest news moment by moment, follow me on my media platforms.”…
At 9:25 a.m., the most gruesome of posts is revealed: a video with his watermark: “Filmed by Hassan Eslaiah” in the center, depicting a room full of dead, bloody bodies.
This particular video does not appear to have been published anywhere else. In the background, you hear a calm voice that sounds like his from other videos, and is spoken in his Arabic dialect, stating the following: “[Animal] carcasses, carcasses. God is great. This is the path to Jerusalem.”…
Hassan Eslalah characterized the deceased Israelis as “animal carcasses.” Subsequently, the individual exclaims “Allahu Akbar,” which translates to “God is Great,” and makes reference to the purportedly newly accessible “path to Jerusalem” facilitated by Hamas.
