JD Vance Responds to Home Attack, Calls Suspect a ‘Very Sick Individual’

Vice President JD Vance addressed the recent attack on his Cincinnati home during a Tuesday interview, describing the suspect as “a very sick individual” and thanking the Secret Service for their swift response.

The incident, which occurred late Monday night, involved 26-year-old William D. DeFoor, who was arrested after smashing windows at Vance’s residence with a hammer. Secret Service agents on the scene quickly apprehended the suspect, who now faces federal and local charges including vandalism and trespassing.

Vance spoke about the situation during an interview with radio host and CNN commentator Scott Jennings. “Our family’s doing fine. Thanks for asking,” Vance said. “We had left Cincinnati a few hours before the attack… and so I guess this person probably assumed we were still there and decided to make an attack.”

The Vice President explained that security is heightened whenever he is in town, making the home an obvious target for anyone keeping watch. “I don’t know if they were trying to break in, that’s my intuition just because they went and hammered the windows,” he said. “But of course, we have stronger windows than most because I’m a protectee of the Secret Service, and so eventually realized they weren’t getting anywhere, ran off, and were captured.”

While Vance declined to speculate on the motive, he made it clear the suspect was “clearly a very sick individual.” He also noted that his children were blissfully unaware of the chaos. “The good thing is, my kids are young enough, they have no idea what’s going on… they don’t read the news, so they have no idea that their home was attacked by a crazy person with a hammer.”

New information about the suspect, William DeFoor, paints a disturbing picture. Reports indicate DeFoor has a history of vandalism and mental health issues, and had recently been going by the name “Julia” on social media. He is reportedly the son of a wealthy pediatric urologist, adding another bizarre layer to an already unsettling case.

Vance’s measured response stands in contrast to the escalating threats facing conservative figures across the country. While Democrats and corporate media remain largely silent, the Vice President once again reminded Americans of the real dangers public servants and their families face — and the need for serious accountability.

“We’re thankful for the Secret Service,” Vance said. “They kept our family safe.”
