The endeavor of Ohio Republican Representative Jim Jordan to secure the position of Speaker of the United States House of Representatives was ultimately unsuccessful. However, his primary focus persists on what he has identified as one of his utmost responsibilities, which is to ensure accountability for President Joe Biden.
The Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Jordan, has indicated that the Republican party will make a decision in the early months of the upcoming year on the potential initiation of impeachment proceedings against President Biden.
According to Jordan, the Republican Party’s impeachment inquiry requires further refinement, yet a significant number of his followers maintain that the existing evidence is sufficient to warrant impeachment.
“I believe we will get the depositions and the interviews done in this calendar year and then make a decision early next year whether the actual evidence warrants going to articles of impeachment and moving to that stage of the investigation,” Jordan said.
Last Monday, James Comer (R-La.), the Chairman of the Oversight Committee who was responsible for overseeing the inquiry, issued approximately twelve subpoenas and requests for interviews. Significantly, the inquiry requested testimonies from Hunter Biden, the eldest son of the president and sibling of the president, as well as James Biden. Additionally, it requested the participation of business partners and key individuals involved in the family’s transactions to provide testimony.
In a recent appearance on “Sunday Morning Futures,” Comer expressed his belief that Joe Biden should be ousted from his position, without specifying a timeline for such action.
The collaborative inquiry involved the Oversight, Judiciary, and Ways and Means committees within the House. The investigation was established in September and is examining the president’s familial business transactions and purported efforts to procure votes through illicit means.
Critics of the impeachment probe within the White House have voiced their disapproval, contending that Republicans are engaging in partisan maneuvers.
Special Counsel David Weiss, who is overseeing the case involving Hunter Biden, provided testimony to the Judiciary Committee in a closed-door session last week.
According to reports, it has been verified that he expressed his request to assume the role of a special counsel in June 2022 for the purpose of investigating the eldest son.
Weiss maintained that he would have consistently obtained the status in question if he had requested it, despite the fact that he did not receive such status until August. Jordan, who informed reporters last week, asserted that the testimony provided by the special counsel was incongruous.
Weiss, in a discreet manner, evaded numerous inquiries by asserting that his research was still under progress. Hunter Biden has entered a plea of not guilty in response to the tax and weapons accusations filed against him by Weiss’ legal team.
One crucial aspect for Jordan is the fact that Weiss made a request to collaborate with United States prosecutors in the Southern California and Washington, DC regions; however, his proposal was declined.
“Guess what that charge was going to be? It was going to be the tax year that dealt with the Burisma income,” Jordan said, referring to Hunter’s alleged shady dealings with the Ukrainian gas company.
“That to me is hugely significant because the Burisma years were all that income coming into Hunter Biden. That statute of limitations — they let it expire. And I think it expired because if they go there, that takes them right back to the White House, right back to Joe Biden.”
At a certain juncture, the host, Maria Bartiromo, expressed concern regarding the timing of a potential impeachment. She stated that there will be an upcoming election in the following year, and President Trump is currently facing four indictments, in addition to the issue of dereliction of duty.
In response, Jordan cited a statement from Donald Trump, the former president who is currently facing a total of 91 criminal charges.
“He said they come after him because he’s fighting for us,” Jordan said of Trump. “That is true. That’s what the Swamp does. They’re going after President Trump because he kept his word, and he’s fighting for us.”
