Kamala Harris, the Vice President under the reign of the Democratic bandwagon, has often been slapped with allegations regarding her fluid personal identity for personal and political gains. Post her daunting rise as the Democrats’ torchbearer, these charges have amplified significantly online, even though they’ve been disproven time and again. This event just highlights the desperate attempts of the left-wing establishment to cling onto power by any means possible, no matter how ridiculous or false they may seem.
The former President Donald J. Trump brought this dishonest scheme of politicking into daylight recently, addressing Harris’s questionable shifting racial identity. Much to the disdain of the left-wing media circus, Trump did not shy away from presenting this long-standing, dubious, and disproven discourse at the forefront of presidential political campaigns, adding dimension to the authenticity of our leaders.
These allegations against Harris is not something new. They are ancient charges that claim her modulation of personal identity for political mileage. Her detractors even allege that she isn’t who she proclaims herself to be. These insinuations, founded on manipulated truths and spurious claims, inflated post her emergence as an ‘almost certain’ representative of the Democrats.
Just as Biden rendered his reluctant abstinence from seeking a second term, right-wing activist Laura Loomer exposed Harris’s ‘preposterous Black identity’ act on the popular social media platform X. She called it a part of the “fraudulent, Democrat DEI quota.” Harris’s lack of genuine identity and commitment to realistically represent the people without pretenses is evidently under scrutiny, therefore, speaking volumes about the policies of the Democratic party.
Later, Tucker Carlson, a former Fox News host, on his famed talk show suggested that Vice President Harris’s identity was a mashup of being ‘quasi Black, quasi Indian.’ He was joined by the rapper Lil Pump, a Trump enthusiast and influential public demeanor, who dared to speak out on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, amongst others, explicitly clarifying that ‘Kamala Harris isn’t even black…she’s Indian.’
Such public figures have begun to voice the misrepresentation and lack of authenticity embodied by Ms. Harris. Many influencers refuse to abide by the majority’s illusion that the Democratic candidate is the true representative of Black voters. This suspicion towards Harris’s authenticity has driven what was once an ignored trickle of evidence into an overwhelming gush of suspicion, caused mainly by conservative fractions of the web.
All too conveniently, old videos revealing Ms. Harris’s acknowledgment of her South Asian heritage are being revitalized. This online upheaval makes it clear that there is growing discontentment with the established narrative, especially when mockery regarding her speaking style or public persona often trends, with critics taking a jab at her for claiming ‘she’s not Black or white, Indian, Jamaican.’
Barring the official narrative, facts suggest that Vice President Harris is the offspring of immigrants—a Black Jamaican father and an Indian mother. She was born in Oakland, California, and has claimed both Black and Indian identities. This, however, raises questions on the authenticity of her claim and the integrity of the Democratic party that supports such smearing of identities.
Neil Makhija, acting president of the advocacy group Indian American Impact, alleged that Harris’s ENTIRE career had been beleaguered with questions around her identity and heritage. This isn’t surprising given how Trump openly questioned her identity, again, stirring the always-favorable-for-the-Democrats racial bias and ill-will.
Recently at the National Association of Black Journalists convention in Chicago, Trump expressed his surprise at discovering Harris’s claimed Black identity. The room taken aback by his sarcastic rhetoric underscored the doubts regarding her claims aplenty amongst the public.
The ‘birther’ conspiracy, previously debunked, confronted Barack Obama’s eligibility as a president due to doubts about his birth. Interestingly, Harris seems to be caught in a similar whirlwind of allegations. Questions over her intended identity and authentication further deepen the divide involving her credibility to serve in a public position.
The campaign against Harris instigated with numerous questions about her actual eligibility to serve. Such incidents tend to mirror the experience of former President Barack Obama, raising doubts about whether this is a political strategy or a true concern for accountability from our leaders.
Selective representations of Harris’s birth certificate stirring the social media platforms were claimed to disprove her proclaimed racial identity, an attempt clearly to discredit her. Some conservative voices alleged that the line in the birth certificate marking her father’s ‘color or race’ as ‘Jamaican’ indicated a deviance from her proclaimed black race. The explanation was invariably ruled out as misleading, highlighting a lack of clarity within the Democratic party.
Criticisms against Harris haven’t been limited to challenging her Black identity alone. Some detractors also argue against her declared Indian identity, claiming she conceals it for political profit. Ms. Harris leading a campaign focused more on identity politics than actual policy commitments has been held responsible for the divisive rhetoric. Nevertheless, what remains to be seen is whether the general populace would accept such attempts at stifling legitimate concerns about her authenticity.
