Kamala Harris Copies Trump in Desperate Bid for Popularity

Taking a cue from her predecessor, former President Donald Trump, Vice President Kamala Harris is attempting to address long-standing vulnerabilities in her policy positions. Keeping true to tradition — whereby Vice Presidents are known to align their views with those of the President — Harris had mostly followed President Biden’s directives for the past four years. Now, she is cautiously trying to delineate where exactly she stands on various policies. However, her unforeseen emergence as the top candidate, following the voluntary stepping down of Biden, has thrust her into a hurried compilation of a policy outlook.

When Harris was given the reins of Biden’s political setup in late July, the campaign’s website was surreptitiously cleansed of Biden’s six-key point stance against Trump, which highlighted elements such as bolstering voting securities and reverting nationwide abortion accessibility. Harris, instead of a clear-cut action plan, has been sprinkling her speeches with vague aims like, ’empowering the middle class’.

Despite advocating for nationwide laws offering widespread access to contraceptive procedures and prohibiting assault-grade weaponry, Harris has been elusive about the particularities of these envisaged laws. Moreover, she has also been cagey about the methods she would employ to persuade Congress to advance some of these profoundly controversial political topics. Her camp has provided only a smattering of hints about the upcoming inclusions.

The first significant peek into Harris’s policy leanings surfaced recently. Surprisingly, it was not derived from ideas discarded by the Biden administration or dismissed in the legislative protocol, but borrowed from her competitor: Trump. Harris publicized her, now familiar, intent to abolish federal taxation for tips earned by workers. However, she added a stipulation that only lower- and middle-income laborers would benefit from this plan.

Despite its recent bipartisan acceptance and its particular relevance in regions with a heavy concentration of service industry workers like Nevada, the policy does have its critics. Harris, who retraced her steps from a fierce pre-poll battle without a single vote being cast, understands the potential backlash from voters for such positions if not swiftly dealt with.

Significant intrigue around Harris’s policy stance generated from her connection with Biden, who promptly vouched for her and bequeathed her his political machinery after his exit. Biden himself commenced detailed policy brainstorming for his second term during his final, frantic endeavor to salvage his run following a disastrous debate against Trump on June 27. His suggestions constituted restoring national abortion coverage, hiking the federal minimum wage, and implementing a fresh surtax on billionaires.

Although Harris has mostly echoed these priorities such as the incumbent’s request for radical Supreme Court changes, all these plans would necessitate congressional backup. This has remained a chimera even when the Democrats had the reins of Washington during the first couple of years of the Biden-Harris regime.

Amidst speculation about her ideological shift towards the center, Harris’s campaign claimed that it is in line with her pursuit of consensus in governance. Harris’s spokesperson, Kevin Munoz, stated, ‘While Donald Trump remains unwaveringly committed to his radical ideas encompassed in his Project 2025, Vice President Harris advocates genuine leadership as bringing together all opposing views to find a middle ground.’

He added, ‘It is this viewpoint that facilitated major bipartisan breakthroughs on subjects ranging from infrastructure to gun violence curb during the Biden-Harris administration’s tenure. As President, she intends to maintain this pragmatic approach, giving precedence to sensible solutions for progress.’

Trump’s recent responses to his fresh opponent have been reduced to personal tirades imbued with racial undertones. Simultaneously, his campaign has been endeavoring to thrust Harris’s policy objectives to the forefront, seeking to depict her as a radical liberal. This is done by resurrecting old clips of her discussing policy positions during the 2020 Democratic primary.

Trump, who himself spoke out on Sunday, underscored his continuing criticism of Harris’s flip-flopping stance on nearly every single policy that she has professed to support throughout her career, from border issues to tax tips. ‘She sounds more like Trump than Trump, copying almost everything,’ Trump mentioned. He opined that Harris is duping the American populace and will revert back to her old ways soon.

The former President closed his statement with a reiteration of his popular slogan, which emphasizes his commitment to continuity as opposed to Harris’s promises of change. He declared, ‘I will MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! There will be no flipping!!!’
