LSU first-year student and football player, JT Lindsey, is faced with suspension from the team until further notice. This arrangement is a reaction to a pending charge against him, according to information received from his lawyer and shared with The Advocate on a recent Saturday. The charge in question is 1 count of being an accomplice after the fact in a 2nd-degree murder case. His alleged crime stems from accusations that he supplied housing to two individuals implicated in a homicide incident around Alexandria, La., starting around the end of the previous month.
As per the provided details, the young footballer, Lindsey, has been implicated by law enforcement in lending his dormitory space to the murder suspects. The claim indicates that harbor occurred within his dorm space at LSU. In response to an issued warrant by the campus police, Lindsey willingly surrendered himself to the authorities on a particular Friday, leading to his subsequent arrest.
Kris Perret, Lindsey’s legal representative, has expressed that his client was entirely unaware of the criminal statuses of the two teenagers sheltered. It means that Lindsey had no knowledge that these individuals were on the run for murder or any other criminal charges. From the perspective of his advocate, Lindsey innocently offered them accommodation without the knowledge of the gravity of their situation.
Further clarifying his client’s standpoint, Perret communicated that Lindsey would have negated any invitation to the duo had he known their criminal implications. In clear terms, he stated that Lindsey wasn’t privy to any criminal records pertaining to the two teenagers before their respective arrests on Monday. He, therefore, did not abet their evasion from justice knowingly.
Of note is that despite being embroiled in this situation, the LSU player, Lindsey, has not been implicated as a participant in the alleged crime. His involvement, as stated, is limited to providing accommodation to the accused parties. There isn’t any available evidence to suggest that he was involved or had any firsthand knowledge regarding the crime itself.
However, evidence available does show Lindsey repeatedly entering and exiting his dorm room along with the implicated duo. These activities, as substantiated by an affidavit, raise some questions about his involvement with the suspects. Although not a solid confirmation of his awareness of their crime, it does subtly suggest a close relationship.
The two complicated in this case are 17-year-old Shemell Jacobs and 18-year-old Keldrick Jordan. These two teenagers have been on the run and top of the wanted list of the Alexandria Police Department from around May. The charges against both the accused include their alleged involvement in the shooting death of 17-year-old Corey Brooks.
Both, Jacobs and Jordan were not free for long; they faced the law’s grip on Monday. The arrests happened at the LSU’s Nicholson Gateway Apartments where they were hiding. With their hideout discovered and the arrests made, the drama surrounding their alleged crime started to unfold.
Interestingly, during the arrest, US Marshals discovered that Jacobs was in possession of Lindsey’s ID. This piece of evidence naturally raises more questions about Lindsey’s apparent complicity. Though it doesn’t conclusively demonstrate his knowledge about or involvement in the murder, it does paint an intricate picture of the relationship between Lindsey and the suspects.
