Born Virginia Louise Roberts in Sacramento, California, she moved to Florida during her childhood. At just 16 years old, while working at Mar-a-Lago, she was recruited by Ghislaine Maxwell and brought into Epstein’s orbit. Giuffre later revealed she was groomed, trafficked, and sexually abused by Epstein and powerful figures tied to his network, including Britain’s Prince Andrew.
Giuffre’s courage in taking on some of the most powerful and connected individuals in the world brought international attention to the scope of Epstein’s crimes. In 2021, she filed a civil lawsuit against Prince Andrew, alleging sexual abuse when she was a minor. The case ended with a major settlement in 2022, with Prince Andrew making a substantial financial donation to Giuffre’s nonprofit organization supporting survivors.
Beyond the legal battles, Giuffre devoted her life to advocacy. She founded Speak Out, Act, Reclaim (SOAR), a nonprofit dedicated to empowering survivors of sex trafficking and abuse. Her work not only exposed one of the most extensive and protected human trafficking operations in modern history but also inspired countless others to come forward with their own stories of abuse.
In recent months, Giuffre faced mounting personal challenges, including a serious car accident and a legal dispute involving a restraining order against her estranged husband. Friends and colleagues said she remained deeply committed to her advocacy work despite these hardships.
